S A M

We reached campus, where there were a shitload of students in that main, 'get together' area. Everyone usually came here before class, which meant we would possibly see the rest of our group.

Which meant him and I had to let our hands disconnect, also having to take a step away from each other. Too close is too obvious.

As him and I walked, I could already see those deadly eyes just staring at us. Never mind us. Our wounds. Shocked of our presence.

Emily, Chris, and Ashley had returned to school about a little over a week ago compared to us. Their wounds were less severe then mine, and Mike's. Him attacked, and gashed. Both of us being blasted by the roaring flames. Everyone else just got it simple.

"They're all staring at us." I whisper to Mike neurotically, feeling my hands tremble.

He looked away, digging his hands deeply into his jean pockets. "Yeah. I know." He replied.

I scan my surroundings as I see a similar girl. Medium size, short black hair, who without a doubt takes the Asian nationality. Only to describe one person.

"There's Em." I point out, nudging Mike's shoulder.

"Alright." He said. "Lead us to her."

I shine him a smile, as I proceed in her direction. Her eyes light up at the sight of us, when she immediately had this crazy smile come upon her features.

"Oh my god!" She remarked excitedly. "Look at you two!"

I smile. "Hey Emily."

She turned her focus to me for a moment. "You feeling better?" She asked.

I nod. "Yeah. A lot better."

She just smiles before moving on to Mike. "And you." She smiled. "The fighter that's still alive." She pats his arm. "How did you survive, I don't know."

He exchanged looks with me as he just smiled. "Guess it was a miracle."

Emily smiled. "How are you feeling?" She asked.

He shrugged. "The best I'll ever be."

She smiles, before wrapping her arms tightly around him, capturing him in a hug. "I'm so glad we didn't lose you." She pulled away. "But you still look like crap."

He smiled. "Thanks."

I chuckled. "A lot happened to him in the past two weeks."

"Care to share?" She asked curiously.

I completely froze for a moment. Not realizing exactly what came out of my mouth. All the things that happened to him in these past two weeks typically involved me. Either saving my ass, or becoming my boyfriend. Only one revolved mainly around him.

"He- ah." I pause. "Was stabbed by a nail a few days after he completely recovered. Don't know if you knew that."

"No." She said softly.

"He literally lost consciousness, and zoned out. Losing his balance, and stabbing his shoulder with a nail." I sigh. "Hasn't happened again but, I'm worried it might."

"Jesus Christ." She remarked with a shocked expression. She watched him very observantly, staring at all of his wounds. One that showed peeled skin, openly showing its dark red color on his arm from the exposure of his t-shirt. "That couldn't have caused the ripped skin. Did it?"

He bit his lower lip. "No."

"What else?" She asked, herself just feeling complete pity towards him.

"Sam was- nearly hit and possibly killed by a car." He bowed his head, releasing a sigh.

Her eyes trailed off to face me, her jaw completely dropped. "You're kidding."

"He saved me." I say softly, as I allow a grin to come upon my face.

"You can't stop saving people can you?" She smiled.

He frowned. "I couldn't save everyone."

"You saved who was worth saving."
She added, smiling towards me.

It was surprising. This was like this brand new Emily that no one ever met. She wasn't a bitch anymore, thank god. She had this whole change in emotion from always annoyed, to happy. Plus, she's acting like her and I were best friends when we kinda weren't. Her and I barely talked.

"So you're saying Jess wasn't worth saving." He said with his lips pursed, leaving my smile to immediately fade, as well as Emily's.

Her face flushed. "No." She gulped hard. "She was- just-"

"You can stop right there." He said. "I'm over it. I found a way."

Her eyes widened, as I was truly struggling to hide my smile. I knew he was talking about me. I was his way.

"I'm glad you did." She said. "But how?"

He shrugged with only silence.

"Found another girl?" She inferred.

"What? Of course not." He said quickly.

I bit my lip as I saw Emily look towards me. "He did, didn't he? I know you wouldn't lie."

I shook my head. "He didn't."

"But did you?" She asked curiously.

"Nearly." I said. "This guy I work with tried taking making out with me further, but I didn't allow him to. I didn't feel that way about him."

"Wow." She said.

"Yeah," I frown, "I know."

"Okay, well." Emily said. "I'm gonna get going. And ah. I'll see you two around."

I wave her off. "Bye." I said. Mike said the same.

He looked at me with a devilish smile. "Damn." He chuckled. "You're good at lying."

"So are you." I smile. "But, I won't take it as a good thing."

"For our situation, it is." He said. I unfortunately did agree. Lying was our only answer.

"I guess you're right." I say. "But I was just literally describing you with the whole make out thing."

He laughs. "Oh really?" I nod. "So I tried to take it further?"

"Hell yeah you did." I giggle. "In the snow."

"That was the only time." He insisted.

I punch his shoulder playfully. "Keep telling yourself that, Romeo."

"I will." He smiled. "Because it's true."

The sound of class bells ringing filled our ears, as I continue to laugh at his comment. "Whatever." I dismiss. "Let's get to class. Get this fucking day over with."
