S A M

I don't think I ever lost sleep over college before. I'm usually glad to be there. Not absolutely petrified, and anxious of what will happen.

Yes. I am worried about the whole mountain thing, and what will be asked. But, something else leaves me more paranoid than any of that.

Me. Mike.

No one can know right now. Not even our own friends can know.

It'll spread too fast. Cause all these other crazy rumors and whatever. Then it just piles up on the questions. And we don't want that.

I don't want to hide this from them. It's huge. And I'm sure they would be happy to hear about us moving on, but they wouldn't be the only ones to find out. I know it. It'll spread immediately. It will cause problems for him, and I as individuals. It would just ruin the relationship.

So, I guess we just gotta wing it.

"You okay?" I gaze in Sam's direction, as I see her standing there. Frozen. Staring right at the ceiling, in this whole other world.

She snaps back, looking at me with a puzzled glare. "What?"

"Are you okay?" I repeat.

She shrugs. "Don't know how to feel right now." She sighs. "Happy. Sad. In the middle. You name it. I don't think I can feel it."

I come up behind her, wrapping my arms around her waist. "You're overthinking this. You'll be okay." I assure. "We just... Act normal. Not suspicious."

"Easier said then done, Mike." She frowns, peering down to the ground as she rocks back-and-forth. Then leaning her head up against my chest.

"We'll make it through it." I grin. "It's our little secret. Okay?"

She looked up to me with I shall say the most faked smile I've ever seen in almost two years. "Oookkkaaayyyy." She mumbles, her light green, vibrant eyes glistening.

"Yeah." I grin wider. "Oookkkaaayyyy."

She chuckles as I place a short, and soft kiss upon her forehead. "Okay. Okay. Get used to not doing this wherever you want."

I smirk. "Gotcha." My arms unravel around her waist, as they were now glued to my side.

We had collected our needed items, putting them in our bags for classes. The books. The binders. The notebooks. The usual.

"Who's driving?" She mentioned curiously.

I grab my keys off the table and shake them, letting off a jingling sound. "Who's got the better car?"

"Oh-ho." She giggled. "Who's got the better driving?"

"Me." I said sharply, with a childish smile arising on my features.

"Well, I'm not arguing. I rather not drive anyway, so.." She playfully nudges my shoulder. "All you buddy."

"Buddy?" I remark. "You're allowing that to be a name for me."

She just smirked as she made her way out the door, wandering off to my personal vehicle. Waiting patiently beside the passengers seat door, browsing her notifications on her phone.

I unlock the car, which she immediately entered at the sound of the locks clicking. Throwing herself in the seat, closing the door, and strapping in for the ride. I had done the same.

I insert the key into the keyhole, and twist it. Listening fondly as the engine roars, always falling in love with that sound. My two feet set upon the brake, and pedal, as I ready my hand on the steering wheel.

"Ready?" I temptingly tap the pedal down, listening to the revving.

"Yeah, as long as we're there on time." She peeked up from her phone, briefly staring over at me.

I smile as my foot pushed heavily down, and the car hastily gained acceleration speed. I overheard the sound of Sam's back slam against the cushion of her seat which made me very softly chuckle.

"Mike, when I said get there on time." She put her phone in her lap. "I didn't mean speed like a fucking maniac."

I momentarily slowed down. "Well, you wanted to get there on time, so.."

"We're guaranteed, it's all good." She laughs, her bright smile leaving me to do the same. "Just drive."

I could sense she was a bit bothered, and irritated with my driving. I knew she was serious. And I knew I had to pace it slow. Which I did.

It was only another remaining 15 to 20 minutes before arriving in front of the building. I take a stop alongside the concrete, allowing Sam to step out. She shot down the offer, and kept herself in the passengers seat until we found a decent parking spot.

We both exit the car, and met around the back of it. I delicately grip Sam's hand, as it seemed no attention was drawn to us at the moment. Everyone seemed to be somewhere else on campus.

"How badly do you wish we weren't forcing ourselves to hide all of this?" Sam piped up, her eyes focusing on me.

"Pretty bad." I sigh. "It's pretty hard to hide feelings for someone when you know you love them so much."

I watch as a tint of scarlet coats her cheeks, leaving her smiling contentedly. "I know.." The smile fades, as she sighs. "It's hard enough for me. Can't imagine how hard it is for you."

She leaned her head onto my shoulder, gripping my hand tighter. "Some things are worth fighting for." I smile.

She grins wider. "You're definitely worth fighting for."

"And so are you." I swung her arm back-and-forth with mine. "So. Are. You."
