Chapter Eighteen--
My alarm blared through the room, waking me up from my peaceful sleep. I groan and roll over to shut it off. After three attempts to turn off the noise, I finally got it, but knocked my phone off the table. I rolled back over and saw Nick with his eyes open.

"I have to get her to school. Only a couple more months of it." I rubbed a hand over my face and sighed. He reached over and kissed my cheek before snuggling back into the covers. I got off the bed and put on some yogas and a dri fit shirt since I was going to work after I dropped her off anyway. I went into the bathroom and brushed my teeth and hair. I put my hair up in a brunette bun.

"Goodbye honey. I'll see you after work." I kiss Nick on the side of the head and whisper in his ear.

"No you won't." He mumbled groggily. My smile dropped, as well as my heart. I was confused by what he meant, but my immediate thought was that he was going to see another woman, and he was openly admitting it to me.

Stop it Marni. I told myself silently. He opened one eye and saw the puzzled look on my face.

"I'm flying to New York for a show and business stuff. I won't be back for a couple of days." I sighed and let my shoulders slump, putting a sad look on my face. Now, both his eyes were open and full of concern for me.

"I know you've been on edge lately. Promise me that you won't do anything stupid?" He sits up and leans on his elbows. I nod to him and purse my lips.

"I promise. I love you and hope you have a safe trip." I kissed his lips softly before letting go of him. His touch lingered on my lips as I made my way to Eliza's bedroom.

"Have a great day at school baby girl. I'll be here to pick you up, okay? I love you." I kissed her forehead and pulled her in for a small hug.

"I love you mommy. Can you tell daddy I said goodbye?" I still hadn't told her that he was leaving for a few days. I really didn't want to see that look on her face and then have her day at school be crappy because I know how that feels. But I also didn't want her to come home tonight and be sad.

"Hey. Daddy is leaving again princess." I quietly tell her, straightening out her jacket.

"What," she sticks out her bottom lip in a pout," why?"

"Don't cry baby. He's got work to do, but you and mommy will have lots of fun. I promise." I smile and hope that'll brighten her mood.

"Okay. I love you." She pecks my cheek and runs into school, almost skipping. I stand back up and get into the car, texting Nick right away.

Marni: she's mad at you. I told you she would be

Nick: what? No

Marni: yeah. Now I'm gonna have to deal with that. Thanks babe ;)

Nick: no problem

Marni: I gotta get to work now. Love you

Nick: love you baby

With that, I shut off my phone and began driving to the gym.

"Marni, I am so sorry to say this, but you're being let go." My boss says, breaking the silence of her fresh smelling office. I was speechless. To be completely honest, I thought Macy was calling me in here to promote me. Not fire me!

"W-why?" I stuttered out, still shocked.

"We've gotten complaints about..." She gestures to my wrists. They've all seen them because I can't wear long sleeves to work. And there's no way to hide it when I'm training someone.
