-On this chapter we will be following Sid Martins-

The preparations for the invasion took weeks but it was worth it. We have a lot of infantry trucks ready for an invasion force. When we readied the vehicles It was time to move. I write to my family about what happened at Lantorn as I travel to Haltroc. If this letter gets to them I most likely survived the invasion of Haltroc because I accidently brought it with me. For the invasion we are bringing a surprise for the Imperium. Weighing about 38 tonnes of U.F. freedom is the G24 Tank was our strongest unit. It's also powered by a rare crystal only found on U.F. lands. As I finish the long letter I see the building tops of the city. I put the letter away and picked up my rifle. I look down at my right leg and sighed. All's the Imperium ever did was take. Now I am going to take their land and lives. I here the artillery go off.

"All right ladies were 2 minutes out. I don't want to see anymore crazy acts from any of you. I need you men alive." Sgt. told us.

Explosions go off all around us. Friendly squad trucks were being destroyed around us.

"Alright, lets move!" Sgt. yells at us.

We all piled out of the truck. Cooper lays down covering fire while we run for cover in an apartment building. I head up to the fifth floor quickly to provided cover for the rest of the trucks. When the rest of the trunks were in the city the artillery stopped. U.F. troops flooded the streets. They took up defenses in buildings. It was silent until the Imperiums' Mark 4 walkers. They stood 3 stories tall with medium armor and three heavy machine guns. I tried to snipe out the gunners or the drivers but the armor covered it good. The walkers were destroying our troops. We needed the tank support fast. Bullets had no effect on the walkers.

Grenades weren't an option either. The troops hurled a couple of grenades but the walkers moved out of the way. When the tanks arrived I thought things were going to get better for our side but it was false hope. Imperium squads ambushed from the roof tops with rocket launchers. Before I could do anything they quickly took out our tanks. Then Imperium troops moved in from the streets. They were just pushing hard. I took out as many as I could but it was overwhelming. I was taking too much fire, I had to move. No doubt I knew my squad was having difficulties holding them off. It was a losing fight, so we had to retreat.

I ran downstairs and stopped at the doorway to the bottom floor. I see all of my squad dead except for Sgt. He pulled the bastard sword out of the scabbard on his back and hacked down enemies around him. I pulled out my pistol and shot the enemies trying to get in. Then a grenade flew in through a window. I called out "Grenade!" while I was taking cover but Sgt. just kept fighting. When the grenade went off it left a ringing in my ears. Sgt. was killed by the blast and more troops were coming. I grab cooper's machine gun and made my way up stairs. I set up the machine gun at the top of a set of stairs aiming down to a doorway. The enemy will funnel through that way. At the last second I notice the gun's jammed. I quickly try to load it while troops are already firing on me. When I load it I spray bullets blind fire style toward the enemy. Once I ran out of ammo I took off going up stairs until I got to the roof. I realize I cornered myself. I was looking for options but I only saw one. One really crazy idea.

-At this point we will be following Derek Richards-

I crawled all night through the cold mud with no control in my right arm. I had cuts along my side from the barbed wire. I passed out when I got to a forest. When I awoke I was in the hands of  the Imperium. Luckily a scout team had found me two miles away from the camp. When they found me they brought me back to my home city, Haltroc. I thought finally I can see Adeline. Tears stream down my face in the thought of me seeing her again. I passed out again while they were trying to get me on to an ambulance. When I woke I was in a hospital bed next to Adeline.

"Adeline." I utter in a weak voice.

"Derek!" She says kind of loudly

Instantly after that we embrace each other in tears. I tried to lift my right arm to hug her but I couldn't. I still had no control in it. I didn't  care though because I was with her and that's all I cared about.

"I thought I'd never see you again." We both say.

I had made a promise to her to that I would come back to her and travel across the world. Ever since she was a little girl she had a sense of adventure. We met when we were kids and I have always helped her. I remember the days at the park when I carried all of her adventuring gear. Like Crayon made maps and butterfly nets. After our reunion I had to be questioned by Spec Ops guys about what happened at Lantorn and the P.O.W. camp. With the information I provided them it earned me the promotion to corporal. With the promotion and the loss of my arm they tell me I couldn't be an infantryman but I could be in command of a walker squadron. I decline they're offer but they insist because the city was going to be under assault. I couldn't accept my home being attacked so I had made a battle plan. I had told the commander my plan and he accepted. The city had been evacuated before the attack. Before Adeline left I told how much I loved her and that I would return to her.

-At this part of the story it goes back to Sid Martins-

The only way off this roof is building next to it. I backed up for a running start and took off. Did I mention I had a fear of heights? I literally pissed my pants while taking off from the edge of the building. I felt like I was flying for a couple seconds until I broke through the building's window and smacked my left arm into the wall. That hurt a lot I kept telling myself. I should have probably put my sniper down before I did that. Anyway I had to move out of sight. I stealthily moved to the eighth floor and waited for the heat to die down. It took all night for the enemy to be a bit off guard. When it was morning Imperium civilians started moving back in. A Corporal walked out of a stationed walker towards a young woman. Then I noticed he was the walkers by his uniform. We wouldn't of lost if it weren't for the walkers. I grabbed my sniper and took aim.

"This one is for my squad you son of a bitch!" I said while pulling the trigger.

-At this point of the story we go back to Derek after Sid shot him-

I felt cold, heartbroken. Then before I knew it, I fell to the floor.

"No!" Adeline cried.

I felt so much pain, I didn't really feel it. Like running hot water over your hand, it feels cold for a second. I just felt like I was dying. I put my hand on my chest and then looked at it. I only saw a lot of blood. I looked up and seen Adeline running to me.

She quickly goes down to me and says. "Don't die, don't die, please don't die! Please somebody come help!"

I tell her fully knowing I am going to die. "Adeline, go live your dream. Don't let me hold you back."

"I can't let you die." She says to me with tears in her eyes.

"I love you." I say as my last words.

"Derek! No no no no! Derek!" She says as I die in her arms.

-That's the end of Derek's story-
