There's Always Second Chances

We arrived at the pizza place and all met inside. Once we were seated Esther immediately began talking to Macy's friends. I didn't say anything, just kept quiet and looked down at the table that had suddenly become so interesting.

"So what did you think of the concert?" I heard Macy say. I looked up and realized she had been talking to me.

"It was really fun and the band was really good. I liked it." I responded.

"Me too! And the opening band was awesome! That one girl can really play drums!" She sounded so happy when she talked about it, she just lit up and it was beautiful. I looked back down at the table and chuckled.

"Hey why are you laughing at me?" She asked suddenly looking upset.

"I'm not laughing at you its just you're uh...um...never mind." I rushed out. Crap.

"Alright then..." She then turned to Esther and her friends and started talking to them. I ran to the bathroom now that my face was bright red. I always do this!

"Damn it Jonah! Why do you do this!" I whispered to myself in the mirror. I thought I was alone until I saw a door opening and some guy came out of a stall and looked at me funny. Well great this is just great. Now that guy thinks I'm psycho. I decided it would be best if I just left the bathroom and went back to our table. Once I got there I noticed the waitress taking our order and leaving.

" So what kind of pizza did we get?" I asked everyone.

"Half pepperoni and half cheese." Maya responded.

"Ok cool." I said back.

We talked a while longer and every time somebody made a joke or said something funny Macy laughed and it was just so frickin adorable I couldn't stop smiling.

Our pizza came and thank god it came fast because j was starving I haven't eaten since Esther woke me up this morning. I immediately stuffed my face with pizza and Macy laughed at me.

"Oh so now you're laughing at me!" I said with a mouthful of pizza.

"Well hey paybacks what you get!" She smirked. I then took a piece of pepperoni and when she wasn't looking I threw it at her right, it landed right in the middle of her cheek. She turned her head and before I knew it there was pepperoni on my face. We both laughed before she said

"Wait I need to take a picture of this!" She took out her phone and turned so that we were both in the picture and we made dumb faces before she snapped the photo. I will admit it's pretty funny.

"What's your Twitter?" She asked me.

"Just 'JonahMarais'" i answered.

My phone buzzed signaling I had a new follower and I was mentioned in a tweet from 'Macy.1121.'

I followed her back and retweeted the picture that said "good times with new friends and by new friends I mean the pepperoni not Jonah😂 jk!"

Sadly our little hangout had come to an end and we had to go home. We said our goodbyes and I followed Esther out to my car. After about 15 minutes of driving Esther finally spoke.

"You like her don't you?"

"Who?" I asked.

"Jonah, you know who I'm talking about you like Macy don't you?" Do I? No I can't I have the promise. Just don't admit anything go her.

"No I don't I've only known her for like 4 hours." I blankly stated.

"Jonah! You're kidding me right! All you guys did that whole time was flirt! And I saw the way you looked at her like she was the only person in that room like nobody else could compare?" She was now trying to get it out of me because she knew but I wasn't going to lose this one.

"No I don't Esther I only see her as a fried and she only sees me as a friend."

"Are you sure about that I mean come on! There is obviously something there!"

"Yes Esther in sure. And even if I did like her I can't because I have the promise." Finally! Maybe she can let it go now.

"Oh my god Jonah that stupid promise that you make to yourself is dumb and you aren't going to be able to keep it! You can always give relationships second chances you know. You can't just block yourself off from all of it once one thing goes wrong." She groaned.

"Looks. If I were to feel something for Macy which I don't I would tell you ok?"

"Jonah..." She sighed.

"Ok Esther?"

"Ugh fine ok! But you just wait and see I know that it'll happen."

After what felt like the longest drive I've ever driven we were home. I walked downstairs and heard Esther talking on the phone. Who the heck? It's like midnight.

"So do you guys wanna come over?" She asked.

"Ok don't be too long you don't live that far away!" And with that she hung up. Wait crap is Macy coming? I have so much to do to fix! Wait what am i saying I don't like her why am I freaking out its just my 'friend' Macy.

•Macy•

"Ok we should be over in like 5 minutes see you then bye!" I hung up my phone. We were going over to Esther's for the night so we started to pack all of our stuff and walked across the street. I knocked on the door and when it opened Jonah was standing right in front of me in sweatpants and a t-shirt. Holy frick I didn't know somebody could look so good in sweatpants. "No Macy you just moved here and Jonah only sees you as a friend besides you like Austin." I thought. Austin went to my school back home we've always been super close and I started developing feelings for him at the beginning of the year I thought the feeling was mutual and then I moved away and I never got to say goodbye and I guess now I'll never know.

Esther set us all up in the living room and we sat on the couch to watch a movie Jonah joined us awhile later. It a really really late and I began to fall asleep.

The next morning when I woke up I was long on my side on the couch with arms wrapped around me...um what happened I looked up and realized it was Jonah I almost choked on my own spit. How the heck did this happen?!

I tried to get up but he just held on tighter and I couldn't move after a while I got tired of trying and gave up. Without even realizing it I fell back asleep. When I woke up again I heard people taking and the a camera shutter. Taylor...I knew it was Taylor she's known to do this. I opened one eye and looked at her.

"Crap." She whispered.

"Crap is right." I whispered back. I tried to get up to delete the picture but I still couldn't move . Shame on you Jonah and your dang arms! Well I'm stuck...at least I'm warm though I guess. This is not how I pictured this night to go at all.

The picture above is of my sister and I before Magcon Minneapolis 3 weeks ago and I miss Jonah a lot 😔 I also don't get to see him today because I have rehearsals at school and now I'm just going to be sad all day...
