"Fairies, pixies and imps"

Fairies (fae), in the most commonly understood sense can be best described as small humanoid creatures who have thin, membranous wings and generally tend to stay away from humans. This definition is very similar to the classic fairy, but tends to get stretched out when we are talking about other creatures that can fall into the category of "fae". Sometimes the term fairy is used to describe any magical creature, including goblins or gnomes: at other times, the term describes only a specific type of more ethereal creature or sprite. We often visualise them as tiny, supernatural beings with wings and glowing with light.

Also possessing some sorts of strange magical powers like Tinkerbell in the story of Peter Pan or the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella.

The details of what modern fairies are like are equally varied. In some tales fairies are light hearted and helpful while in others fairies are represented as dark and evil creatures.

Pixies:

Pixies are mythical creatures of English folklore, sometimes referred to as the 'little people'. They are smaller than fairies and some are depicted as notorious pranksters. Pixies can be repelled by objects made from iron or iron ore, as contact with the metal is said to harm them. This is another trait they share in common with other fairies of the British Isles.

Reflecting their supernatural state, pixies are said to appear most often at night.

Imps:

An imp is a mythological being similar to a fairy or goblin, frequently described in folklore and superstition. Originating from Germainic folklore, the imp was a small lesser goblin. Imps were often mischievous rather than evil or harmful, and in some regions, they were portrayed as attendants of the gods.

Imps are often shown as small and not very attractive creatures. Their behavior is described as being wild and uncontrollable, much the same as fairies, and in some cultures, they were considered the same beings, both sharing the same sense of free spirit and enjoyment of all things fun. It was later in history that people began to associate fairies with being good and imps with being malicious and evil.

Though imps are often thought of as being immortal, many cultures believed that they could be damaged or harmed by certain weapons and enchantments, or be kept out of people's homes by the use of wards

Though imps are often thought of as being immortal, many cultures believed that they could be damaged or harmed by certain weapons and enchantments, or be kept out of people's homes by the use of wards.

Imps were often portrayed as lonely little creatures, always in search of human attention. They often used jokes and pranks as a means of attracting human friendship, which often backfired when people became tired or annoyed of the imp's endeavours, usually driving it away.
