Flashback/dream Skyalr POV
I'm walking home slowly, my feet making soft padding noises on the tar pavement. I could hear the swish of my trousers against the other. My back lengh dark brown hair swaying gently in the wind. Normaly I woul rush home, but I knew who was there today, and I knew what would happen. I stopped just infront of the big house, before reaching up to the handle and swung the door open, hearing the shouts drown out as they hear me arrive. I turn the corner in the hallway too see glass on the floor of the kitchin, my mother and uncle stood in the middle. She was barefoot.
"Oh Skylar, don't step on the glass, love." She came over, not even wincing at the crunch of the glass under her feet, the trail of crimson blood that followed. She picked me up in her bruised arms, I could see her face now. She was more pale than ever, and had a large cut on her cheek. She set me down on the table. "Now, now, darling. Be good for mummy and don't get down untill I clear the glass away.
"What is the child doing here? I thought I told you to send her away." My uncle looked at me, a sick expression on his face.
"I will not send my daughter away for something she hasn't done." My mother sternly said, narrowing her eyes at him. He lifted his hand up to slap her.
"Mummy, no!" I screached out, her eyes making contact with my own, saying, 'It's okay.' Before his hard hand came into contact with the soft pale flesh of her cheek. The blow was hard, knocking her down into the glass. More and more dug into her hands as she steadied herself, looking up at me.
"Look at me, mut!" His cold, harsh voice ran through the air. She never once turned her head away from me, but she didn't see the danger infront of her.
She gave me a small smile, "It's okay, darling. Mummy loves you.."
"Look at me!" He brought his foot upwards, kicking her in the stomach, making her fall down again. This time her head hit the floor, the cracking sound of glass making it almost unbearable. She was still for a second before twitching again.
"And to make sure you won't be getting up again!" He kicked her stomach once more, making her grunt and then went around to her head. He looked back at me, haterid pure in his eyes. "Say goodbye to mummy." He said in a patronising voice before he lifted his foot again.
"No!" I let out a scream, hoping off the table, landing on my knees. Glass shards had already embeded themselves into my soft young flesh. I hung onto his leg, pleading him not to do it. He shook me off, kicking me to the side. I was lead on the floor as I watched him do it. He kicked her head, again and again, untill she wasn't moving. Then he left. That was when I crawled over to her.
"Mummy ..?" I shook her shoulder, knowing she wouldn't wake up, she'd never come back to me .. ever.
"Mummy?!" I shreiked again, not wanting to believe it. Tears were now streaming down my face, and I wailed as loud as I could.
Mummy .. If only I could've stood up to him .. I'd still have you..
