----Shehry's POV ---
"Tum kuch aur khana jathi hu?" I asked the little girl.
"No. I want to go home," she said.
God, how do I tell you this? I heard everything between Vaishali and this girl's father.
"Beti, hum tum kho ghar nahi leh jha saktha," I said.
"Because my papa hates me," she said.
"Who said that?'' Vaishali asked joining us.
"Papa tells me all the time. Your a stupid girl. Why are you born? Why can't it have been a boy? What's wrong with being a girl?" She asked.
"Nothing princess. There's nothing wrong with being a girl. And your a beautiful one," I said.
"Thank you but why does my papa and his family have a problem with me?" She asked.
I wish I knew.
"Because people are stupid. They think it's important to have a son. Nobody realizes how important a daughter is. And he's right, your a beautiful princess," Vaishali said.
Typically Desi, well not even Desi. In a lot of cultures everyone wants to kill the baby when they find out it's a girl.
"Are you two married?" She asked.
I looked at Vaishali. We are but this misunderstanding between us has got me confused.
She nodded.
"Then can I be your daughter? I promise I'll never ask for anything. You don't even have to send me to college. I'll get a job as soon as I'm able to and move out," she said.
Vaishali and I just looked at each other shocked.
"It's not that princess. Of course I'd love to adopt you. And let me tell you one thing. You will go to college and you will prove that son of a.."
"Vaishali!! She's a child!" I said interuppting her.
"True. But I wanna keep her. Please nah Shehry. Please!!!!!" She said.
"I have no problem with that. I have a problem with the B word you were going to use," I said.
"Oh. Sorry," Vaishali said.
"So, I can stay with you?" The little asked and we nodded.
She hugged me since she was sitting on my side of the table.
"Thank you!" She said.
"No. I'm your dad now aur dad kho thanks nahi boltha," I said.
"Okay. Can I say thanks to you?" She asked Vaishali.
"Nope. Abh chal meri bachi, we have some work to do," she said.
"Ok," she said.
