And I can see.

I can see that hunger in your eyes.

That yawning pit that used to be your lungs,

your heart.

I can feel that hunger, greed, desire,

Rippling across your skin

To mine.

That desperation like cold sweat

Like waking up in the night, drenched and shivering.

Like maybe you could be more.

Like maybe you’re dying.

Ambition like the morning sun with

All day to climb the sky.

Lucifer, light-bearer, pride and that feeling in your stomach.

Falling.

And I can see.

I can see it in your eyes.

Your eyes, mirroring mine.

And I can see.

I can see how hard it is to say no.

I can see that you don’t really try.

You’re starving, how can you say no?

But believe me, please believe me when I say,

Everything you take in will only feed the flames.

Can’t you see you’re burning up?

Like a star, you fiery, flickering creature.

Light years away, so alive and bright and climbing.

And I can see.

I can see how this ends.

And I can see there’s no saving you.
