The waitress came by with a platter of food but passed their table. Dean let out a groan of annoyance before muttering under his breath saying,

"I swear if the service gets any slower I'm going to die of starvation." Castiel looked at Dean strangely.

"I don't think that you are going to be dying of starvation anytime soon Dean. Maybe if you stop griping ,our food will come." Dean stopped griping and the food did come.

"A salad for tall guy, a blt for trench coat guy and and a Bacon cheeseburger for the cute guy." Dean gave the waitress a wink as she sashayed off before he dug into his burger and the briefing of the case.

Castiel stared at the sandwich, it had been ages since he had had to eat but since his fall if he didn't eat or sleep he would die. Losing his wings turned him human and with humanity came a very high mortality rate. He had decided not to share that little fact with Dean. Cas took a bite of the sandwich as Dean began to brief them on the case.

"So, there's been a series of about five murders up in Hibbing. The victims have all been autopsied and apparently they danced themselves to death. When I say that, I mean that witnesses say that they danced until they fell down. It also helps that the soles of their feet were completely gone, all you could see was the bloody bone." Dean stopped and took another bite of his burger before he continued on with his briefing.

"So I say we check out the scene, see what could have done this to those people and gank the monster. You guys with me?"

"Sure, it's been pretty quiet Dean and I don't know about you or Cas but I've been restless and I think this case could settle that." Sam and Dean stared at Cas and awaited his answer. They would go with or without him but they would prefer to go with him.

"I there's a monster hurting those people then it needs to be stopped. I'm coming with you."

The boys finished their meals, tipped the waitress and left the diner before they clambered back into the impala, Sam and Dean in the front and Castiel in the back. They then began to drive to Hibbing where a case lay in wait.

"Why are there only ever rooms with one bed left Sammy? There were three of us this time, it would be be pretty hard to assume that we were gay but they still screw us over." Groaned Dean as he stared at the large bed in front of him. Their hotel room only had one bed of course but it had a couch and couches were ok. Dean threw his duffel bag on the floor beside the couch before he fell back into it, the ancient springs creaking under his weight.

"So Sam, you and Cas can take the bed and I'll take the couch. Cas is hurt so him getting the bed is fair and I'm pretty sure that you need your beauty sleep too, even though it won't fix your ugly mug."

"Sure Dean, whatever you say. Only problem with the situation is that I won't fit on the bed cause it's about three inches too short." Dean got up to check the bed and of course, it was three inches too short.

"Alright then, I guess I'll take the bed too. I don't mind sharing with Cas." Sam gave Dean a knowing smirk to which he replied by sticking his middle finger up in the air. Cas's voice cut through the air.

"Dean, that obscene gesture was not necessary. If you two don't mind, I would like to have a shower. Please excuse me." Castiel headed to the bathroom and locked the door before he began to peel off each later of clothing, as if he was peeling off layers of an onion.

He turned the tap to hot water, unaware of just how hot 'hot' was. He stared at himself in the mirror and he didn't like what he saw.

His skin was sallow, a sickly pale yellowish colour and scars lay like craters on his face. Flecks of grey studded his slight beard and the wrinkles on his forehead seemed more pronounced then they had been just moments earlier. Bruises and healing scars crossed over his chest and down his arms and legs as well, disrupting their sickly pallor. He continued to scrutinize himself until he coughed up blood.

He suddenly doubled over in a fit of coughing and hacking before a wet, sticky sound tore itself from his throat, wrenching blood into the sink and onto the mirror. He stared up at himself in the mirror and he splashed water on his face to wash away the traces of blood that were left on his face.

He quickly hopped into the shower and hissed in pain as the water droplets hit his back, searing and reopening the wounds where his wings had once been. A little bit later, he stepped out of the shower and put a plain white t-shirt and a his slacks back on before he went back into the bedroom.

He sat on the edge of the bed, facing away from the brothers until he hissed in pain. Looking down at his shirt and at his reflection in the mirror, Castiel saw that his wounds had begun to bleed again.

"Dean," he said timidly. "I would greatly appreciate your help in re-applying bandages as my wounds have seemed to open themselves up again." Dean looked up and nodded before grabbing the bandages and forcing Cas to take his shirt off.

The bandages were reapplied and the bleeding seemed to be slowing down but Castiel's strengths was sapped from that experience so he fell asleep almost instantly. Dean covered Cas up with blankets before he slipped into the bed beside him.

"Night Cas." Dean said softly as he fell asleep.

Although Dean couldn't see it, Castiel smiled his most sincere smile that he's smiled in a long time.
