----//---//////:/::////:///:////:::://////////:/The thing that was chasing Cas was not Dean. It wasn't anything. It was an IT. It was as if a demon had possessed Dean or rather Deanne's meat suit and decided to chase after him.

Lumps of rancid flesh hung from its head, peeling back to reveal a rotting brain littered with maggots and beetles. Broken ribs protruded from its chest and sickly black lungs could be seen heaving up and down. A trail of bloody intestines leaked out of its hips and a blue, cloudy eye hung from strings of nerves and ligaments, swinging as the beast took another lunge towards Cas.

ITs gnarled talons grazed the fabric of Cas's trench coat sending him sprawling into the dirt, his head bouncing off of a large rock with a sickening thud. He lay disoriented on the ground as the beast drew closer and closer to him. The air around his face grew hot with a smell of foul, rotting flesh and bloody flesh being cooked, a sickly sweet pork smell.

"It's too late for you now Angel Boy!"

Cackled the beast as it sunk its rotten teeth into Cas's shoulder. Castiel screamed in agony as a large chunk of flesh was ripped from his shoulder. Blood spurted from the wound, soaking both him and the beast. The beast took another bite and Cas screamed again.

Suddenly the hideous face morphed into that of Dean's. Cas gasped in pain as Dean leaned closer to his face.

"This is what happens to Angels who get too close to the fire. They burn up and they die!" Dean plunged a gnarled talon through Castiel's chest and ripped out his heart, taking a bite while it was still beating.

Castiel woke up with a start, panting and sweating in the bed. He looked around wildly and saw that it was only a dream. Thank God it was only a dream. He couldn't handle it being anything else.

Deanne sat on the couch, a tight black knit top and a pair of white skinny jeans on her body. She had been told to stay in that day as she was not feeling well. It was something about stomach cramps but whatever. She sat there and she waited for Castiel to get there. Sam had left her and Cas when he realized that they were going to be a couple. He claimed he didn't want to get in their way but Deanne thought he just didn't want to walk in on them doing something obscene. Sensing that Cas wouldn't be home for a while, she went to take a shower.

Once she was finished, she sat back at the kitchen table beside the front door and watched as Cas opened the front door. They smiled at each other and Cas dropped his briefcase before pulling Deanne into a passionate kiss. She stood in shock for a minute before she melted into the kiss, wrapping her long arms around Cas's neck as she led him to the bedroom. They kissed again, a small moan slipping from Deanne's lips. She reddened in embarrassment and Cas took notice of that.

"You don't have to be embarrassed Cookie. If anything the moans just turn me on more." Cas smiled again as he lifted the top off of Deanne, revealing her bra. She blushed again and began to unbutton his shirt, her shaking hands hindering her progress. Cas straddled her and he pinned her arms to the bed before he whispered things into her ear. Her quiet sigh turned into a loud shriek when she saw what had become of Cas.

Whatever was on top of her was not Cas.

Its eyes were so silver, they would put a dollar to shame and they matched perfectly with its Pale blue skin peppered with dots of black and gooey pus. Nails like claws dug into her wrists and the beast laughed, a demonic voice ringing out in the air.

"What happened to loving Cas? I'm still Cas, can't you see that?" It crooned as it stuck its fingernail near her eye.

"I thought you wanted this, that you wanted Cas but I guess not. He wants you, you know. He crying out for me to stop it but I won't. I'll make sure he sees exactly what I'm going to do to you."

It placed the tip of his fingernail, under Deanne's eye and plunging forward, ripped it out. A wet slurp was heard and blood spurted from the wound as Deanne cried in pain. The demon simply showed her the eyeball before it ate it.

As he set to work devouring her alive, it's last words echoed in her ears.

"To live is to die and to die is to live."

Deanne woke up with a start, her pounding a million miles a second. She looked wildly around the room, expecting to see a pale blue demon but nothing like that appeared.

So it was all just a dream.

She tried to fall back asleep but her nerves were too frazzled as the dream was too life like.

"I need a drink." She muttered to no one in particular as she found her way into the bunker's kitchen. Much to her surprise, she found Castiel there already depleting their endless supply of alcohol.

"What are you doing here Cas?" She asked in surprise as she poured a glass of whisky before downing it all in a single gulp.

"Well," said Cas quietly, "I had a horrible dream and my arm is in really bad pain so I figured a drink would numb some of the pain. I'm assuming you're here for the same reason."

"Yeah I am. I highly doubt we're doing anything tomorrow so why don't we try to get a little drunk." Cas nodded in agreement.

Suddenly, he fell against the counter, his skin becoming pale and clammy. Deanne rushed to help him up and back to his room. She realized that he had a fever by feeling how hot his forehead really was. Through some struggling she managed to get Cas back to his room and into the bed.

"Hey Cas, are you cold? Can I get you anything?"

"I am cold but I wasn't able to find anymore blankets in the bunker. I don't think that there is anything else that you can do for me. I appreciate this though."

Deanne thought for a moment. Cas was really hot but he said he was freezing so maybe some extra body heat would help. Plus, the nightmares would probably stop if she lay with someone. Being with someone helped stop nightmares and being with Cas would help quite a bit. She slid into the bed beside Cas and watched as his expression turned to a shocked one. He attempted to protest but before he could, Deanne placed a finger over his lips.

"You're cold, I'm cold and this will remedy that situation. Plus nightmares stop when there's two people."

She paused and quietly added, "and I don't want to be alone in the dark."

Cas pulled her closer and he smiled when she didn't object.

The night wasn't lonely and the nightmares wouldn't come back.

He lay with Deanne and he realized that if he died that night, he would be a happy man.
