jungkook decided that today was the perfect time to tell his mother about his college plans. ever since they talked it out, he felt closer to her and more open to letting her in on things. so, of course college would be one of them. when he woke up that morning, taehyung was hovering over him, wide smile plastered onto his face. jungkook had opened only one eye before clenching it shut and putting his hands up to cover taehyungs face, "dont do that! it makes me heart beat too fast for this early in the morning!" taehyung had just laughed and kissed him on the nose.

trying to figure out how he should bring it up to his mother was far from an easy task, though. they may have gotten along better recently, but his mother was still the stern and overprotective lady she always has been. he didnt exactly blame her, she had been that was ever since his father had left, but it made things much more difficult for jungkook growing up. anyway, the task at hand was not a simple one, but jungkook decided that it was best not to wait any longer to tell her the information, or it might worsen things.

"omma?" jungkook called out, because his mother liked it best when he said it in korean. jungkooks mother waved him over to where she sat on the couch, kitchen apron still tied to her waist and some sort of home magazine in her hands. jungkook scurried over to her quickly, taking a careful seat beside her one their couch. he sucked a small breath in, before starting. "mom, uh- can i talk to you about something?" jungkook asked unsteadily, followed by an awkward cough. his mother proceeded to close what was in her hands and turn to him, his heart rate picking up as she did.

"well, uh- a few days ago i sent an application to my- um- my top college. and i- i got accepted." he stuttered out, trying to rush the word out of his mouth. his mother stayed silent for a moment, and jungkook didnt dare look up at her. he suddenly felt the warmth of his mothers small hand on his shoulder, causing him to raise his gaze. "im- im so proud of you." she said quietly, and for the first time jungkook realized that she had tears in her eyes. "god- i- jungkook! im so happy for you, dear!" she cheered, pulling him in for a hug.

he sighed deeply in relief, more than glad that it had gone so smoothly. "i leave in less than a week." jungkook muttered once they had pulled away, and his mothers face flashed with sadness for only a brief second before she smiled widely at him. "well than you better start packing! all your stuff wont just pack itself, young man!" she scolded him jokingly, using a gesture of her hands to send him off. he laughed lightly and nodded, getting up to go. his mother turned back to her magazine, and he took that as his queue to leave.

jungkook pulled out his phone as he slowly made his way to his bedroom, tapping his fingers on the screen a few times to text taehyung. i finally told my mom about college! she was totally cool with it! im so happy ((: he sent to taehyung, recieveing a response only moments later. thats so great! im just happy that you're happy, cutie. jungkook blushed faintly as he closed the door to his bedroom behind him, flopping down onto his bed with a sigh.

there was only a few days before jungkook would have to go off to college, to start his freshmen year. of course taehyung was happy for him, but he worried what distance would do to their relationship. which he wasnt even sure was a thing, because technically they werent official and that confused him on so many levels. taehyung wondered if he should just ask jungkook about it, which would be the obvious thing to do, but he was afraid that maybe jungkook didnt want to be tied down during his first year at university. was he holding jungkook back?
