as the long awaited day of jungkooks departure approached them, taehyung found it becoming harder and harder to let him go. even when jungkook would wiggle out of taehyungs grasp to use the restroom, taehyung would frantically pull on his arm and write where are you going? on the paper beside him at practically light speed. jungkook noticed his behavior, but decided to just ignore it because it really didnt bother him in the slightest. it bothered taehyung, though, because how could he let jungkook go off to college if he could barely even let him leave the room?
"taehyung, baby, are you okay?" jungkook finally asked one night, as he gazed at the frantic look in taehyungs eyes whenever he moved even an inch from him. taehyung everted his gaze from jungkooks and let out a small sigh, grabbing his notebook. i just dont want you to leave me. and thats it. thats when jungkooks heart finally broke. for weeks he had been dreading the date of his departure, and now that taehyung finally confirmed that he had been too, jungkook could hardly handle the ache in his chest.
"i wont leave you, i promise." jungkook muttered just as he pulled taehyung into his arms, burrying his nose into taehyungs neck. taehyung stayed silent, but you're going to, he thought to himself, but didnt write. he wasnt upset at jungkook, more at the situation itself. of course he wanted jungkook to go out and find his true calling and be happy and successful and all of that good stuff, but he still wanted jungkook to just wrap his arms around him and lay with him forever and never leave his side. it was all a huge mess, but taehyung kept it to himself, because all he really wanted was for jungkook to be happy.
they spent most of the day laying in bed beside each other, eyes glued to the screen of taehyungs laptop. "what're we watching now?" jungkook asked gently as the previous movie ended. taehyung clicked a few buttons on the key board, pulling up a movie called the garden of words, one of taehyungs all time favorites. he didnt answer jungkook, just pressed play and then moved to sink back into his arms. jungkook watched intently the entire time, just until the last part, where his eyes started to well up with warm tears. taehyung frowned and wiped at jungkooks tears with his thumb, kissing him gently as the younger boy continued to watch.
"ah, that was a good movie. it made me cry, though." jungkook said when it was finished, mumbling the last part. taehyung laughed breathlessly, nodding in agreement. suddenly, there was knocking at taehyungs bedroom door. "tae?" a mans voice called from the other side. taehyung slipped out of bed and over to the door, opening it slowly. "mom told me to come up and ask if you boys were hungry. do you want any snacks?" he asked in a voice that made jungkook wonder if maybe taehyungs sounded similar. taehyung looked over to jungkook with a questioning look, and jungkook just shook his head gently.
no thanks! taehyung mouthed to his father, before smiling widely as his father turned to go. "alright. have fun you two!" his father called, probably aiming for jungkook to hear his words as well. taehyung then shut the door with a quiet click, and climbed back into bed. "your dad, he seems really sweet." jungkook said, nodding once. taehyung nodded, smiling slightly. jungkook wondered what it was like to have a dad, his own didnt stick around too long. he didnt voice his thoughts, though, not wanting to dampen taehyungs mood in the slightest. he liked watching him smile.
