Luke was laying in bed texting Michael. He hadn't quit since he got home. They'd also skyped a few times.
Rome bursted into Luke's room with a frown on her face. She startled Luke, making him drop his phone.
"God dammit, Rome, how do you keep getting in my house anyways?" Luke asked, sitting up.
"I've been here for half an hour," Rome said.
"What?" Luke asked.
Rome shrugged and sat on the bed. "Your mom let me in, and she wanted me to taste test her cookies then we started talking about baking."
Luke picked up his phone and checked it.
"Who are you texting? You don't have any friends," Rome spat. "It's not like you're replying to my texts because you haven't since Monday, which was three days ago!"
"Really?" Luke said, going to check.
"Well, basically since we got back, a week ago, because you replied with just okay," Rome yelled.
"I'm sorry," Luke said, but really he was just pissed as she was just being rude.
"Are you?" Rome asked.
"Who pissed in your cereal?" Luke asked, standing up.
"You did! Why are you ignoring me!" Rome yelled.
"I'm not ignoring you! I'm just.. Busy," Luke trailed off.
"Busy?" Rome asked. "With what?"
Luke looked down. "Me and Michael have been talking a lot lately."
"So you shut me out?" Rome snapped. "You're such a great friend Luke. We had a pact."
Rome was right. Luke and her promised to never put a boy before their friendship.
"I'm sorry," Luke was honest this time.
"Yeah, well, I'm not," Rome said.
And with that, she left his room, slamming the door. Luke sat silent for a minute and then heard his phone go off. He checked it, it was Michael.
Luke? It read.
Luke replied with; sorry, I had to talk to Rome.
Michael replied almost instantly. Skype me.
Luke pulled out his laptop and instantly got a call from Michael. He hit answer and smiled into the camera slightly.
"What happened?" Michael asked.
"What happened? How do you know something happened?" Luke asked.
"Your mood instantly changed," Michael said.
"How can you tell that from a text?" Luke asked.
"I guess I'm just starting to know you a lot better," Michael said with a smile.
Luke felt his stomach flutter. Even when Luke was upset Michael made him feel a certain way.
"So," Michael continued. "What happened?"
"We got in a fight," Luke shrugged.
He felt tears threatening to burn through his eyes but he fighted them off. He hated fighting with Rome. Without Rome, Luke would be a nobody. He'd probably be unhappy and friendless. Scratch that, would be.
"How bad?" Michael frowned.
"She stormed out," Luke said, wiping a tear that slipped.
"You two are great friends, aren't you?" Michael asked.
Luke nodded and sniffled. "Maybe this is a good time for me to tell you my story."
Michael adjusted in his seat. "I'm listening."
Luke took in a breath. "You see, I used to have a lot of friends. I used to be popular. But the boys I'd hang out with got questionable when I wouldn't flirt with the girls that flirted with me, or I wouldn't look at girls. See, at the time, I didn't know why either, I just didn't enjoy it. So I thought into it. And within a couple years, I came out. My friends, old friends, didn't judge, or what they thought wasn't judging, but they stopped asking me to hang out with them because now they're always with girls, and just because I'm gay, they think I don't want to hang out with girls. But in all honesty, I prefer to hang out with girls. And you see, Rome was different from all of us."
Luke took a moment to laugh.
"You probably know that already. She's definitely different. But that's why I love her. And anyways, she's the only one who stuck with me. She didn't care about any of that, she liked me for who I was and thought the people we hung out were dicks anyways. And I don't know what I would do without her," Luke finished.
"I agree one hundred percent. Those people are dicks. Who cares! That's why I like you, Luke, I like you for who you are. Sure, you are cute as fuck, but you're also funny and just an overall interesting person. I really want to keep getting to know you," Michael said.
Luke blushed and smiled. "I'd like to keep getting to know you too."
Before either could continue, Luke looked up, hearing his door open. It was Rome.
"I forgot my purse," she mumbled, picking it up.
"How much of that did you hear?" Luke asked.
"All of it," Rome said, "and I'm the same way. I wouldn't be the person I am today without you, you've done a lot for me too, you know?"
Luke smiled. "Really?"
"Hell yeah," Rome took a seat next to Luke and looked at the computer. "Hey Michael."
Michael waved.
"We're gonna have to come see you soon to get that sweater of Luke's," She winked, knowing that there really was no sweater too.
Michael looked nervous. "Uh, right! The sweater! Yeah, you definatly need to come back. Both of you."
Rome giggled. "I like you, Michael. Don't hurt my Lukey."
