"Luke, it's the first day and you've already skipped a class," Luke's mom sighed, crossing her arms at him.
"I didn't, mom, I told you she didn't hear me," Luke lied.
When Luke left school he walked around for an hour since he knew his mom would be home and he needed to clear his mind. He had a free class last period so when he knew his music class ended he started heading home. He completely forgot they call home when someone isn't in class.
"So you speak up," Liz said, shaking her head.
Before Luke could make a comment the front door swung open. Luke turned around and saw Rome who was already removing her shoes and walking towards them.
"Liz, Luke skipping class way my fault, I swear," Rome said, panting, she obviously ran here.
Liz put her hands on her hips and looked at Luke. "So you did skip."
"Yes he did, but I promise, it's not his fault, he had a good reason," Rome answered for Luke.
"And what's this good reason?" Liz asked.
Luke looked down and Rome spoke up. "Boy trouble, I'll handle it."
Liz sighed. "Fine, I'll let you off the hook, but I don't want anymore calls from the school."
"Yeah, no more, thanks mom," Luke said, grabbing his bag and running up the stairs.
Rome ran after Luke and into his room after him. She closed the door and looked at him. Luke sat on his bed and looked back at her.
"Why didn't you tell me?" She asked, sitting down.
"Because, Rome, I don't know what happened or what would've happened, it could have been nothing," Luke said, playing with his hands.
"That's not nothing, Luke. Tell me what happened," Rome said, looking at Luke.
"You fell asleep, right. You were drunk, Michael was drunk and I was a little bit. I said goodnight but Michael just followed me. He just kept slurring and saying things.. Trying to, y'know. And I don't know, I got scared and shoved him and ran out of the room. I don't know if he was just joking, or if he was going to stop, and he was drunk.. I was just scared," Luke explained.
"It's not a funny joke, and either way, it wasn't right. I'm not going to tell you what to think, because you're right, he was drunk, he wasn't in his right mind, I'm sure he didn't mean to," Rome said, wrapping her arm around Luke.
"I miss him, Rome, but I'm just, scared," Luke sighed.
"He's been calling you, right?" Rome asked.
Luke nodded. "And texting."
"Talk to him, just see what happens," Rome said.
"Right now?" Luke asked, getting a little excited.
"Yes right now! Just put it on speaker," Rome laughed.
Luke wasted no time and grabbed his phone. He scrolled through his contacts and hit Michael's name and put it on speaker. Michael picked up after the first ring.
"Luke?" Michael said quickly.
"Hi," Luke said, but his voice broke making it a whisper.
"Fuck, Luke, I thought I was never going to talk to you again," Michael breathed.
Luke was silent and Michael took the opportunity to speak up again.
"Luke, I am so so sorry, I really am. I know what I did, fuck, I wish I could have re done that weekend over. I'm just uncontrollable when I drink, I should really seek help for it, or just quit drinking, I'm not an alcoholic, damn it sounds like this is what I'm saying," Michael stopped to chuckled softly. "I'm not an alcoholic, don't worry. Anyways, this isn't about me, it's about you. I'm sorry, Luke, I don't know what got into you. I had no control over my actions, I know that's no excuse, but I didn't. And you're just so good looking, fuck, I'm just so sorry."
Luke was silent for a moment, trying not to cry. It hadn't been that long but Luke missed Michael so much.
"I forgive you," Luke said softly.
"You do? Fuck, Luke, I miss you so much," Michael said.
"I do, Michael. You were drunk, I know, I know you didn't mean to," Luke spoke.
"I'm so sorry, you shouldn't forgive me," Michael sighed.
"But I do, Michael, I do. And oh do I ever miss you too," Luke chuckled.
Michael chuckled too. Rome was smiling at the two's conversation.
"When can I see you again?" Michael asked.
"Uh, I have a day off school in a couple weeks, if you can make it, why don't you come stay at my house for a weekend?" Luke suggested.
"Sounds perfect, I'll see you then," Michael said with a clear smile on his face.
"Can't wait."
