Doctor Ritsuko Akagi was the name of the woman who did the sessions with me. She was an older, blonde woman, very slender, with a beauty mark at the corner of her left eye. A mature, composed atmosphere emanated from her whenever she entered the room. At least, during work hours. I've caught her a few times after hours when we both left the facility. She's rather friendly under that detatched, professional exterior. What was most interesting about her was that she had multiple PhDs many of them in science, technology and robotics. She even had one that made her an actual medical doctor. No doubt she was heavily involved in the selection process of every new pilot as well as this Project EVA I just read up on. "The last defense for mankind. Humanity's final stand against the unthinkable," or so it said in the file. The entirety of the file was very vague as to what the project actually was. Mentions of EVA littered the pages but it was all incredibly vague, blacked out or repetitive. The blacked out bits were supposedly need to know information that I had not yet been cleared for. The repetitive sayings and phrases were there to bury important things as well as stress the need for EVA to the human race's survival. All I could actually learn from these documents was that it has been a ever evolving and developing work in progress, completed after nearly 15 years. However, it could and would be improved upon following further results from current and future trials and use. Unfortunately, I could pull out no more from the utter maze of reused words and hard black lines that removed entire paragraphs. I closed the files and set them aside in the seat next to me. With the extra space I had, I decided to lay down on the seats, using the papers as a pillow.

After a few moments of more silence, there was a sudden noise loud enough for the dead to hear. It took a second to register the sound as an explosion. Immediately I sat up and looked out the window. Smoke and a few falling cinders flowed from behind the side of a large hill close by. The cause of it was most likely the small group of militarized U.N. aircrafts hovering a good foot from the affected area cautiously. From the dark cloud a purple, glowing spike emerged, piercing one of the vehicles. It retracted as the aircraft exploded killing the pilot if the spike didn't. The other pilots retaliated letting loose all of their ordinance on whatever attacked them. Military forces and death were common in the states from the ravaged condition it was in. But nothing could compare to what I saw next. A large creature walked through the smoke approaching the other crafts. Its skin was as black as ink, with white, bone like shoulders, ribs and face and a ruby red orb in between the ribs. It was thin from the waist down with a wide torso and lanky arms. Oddly the face and head were around the top center of the torso. Two black spikes formed from the area elbows would be for each clawed arm. I was surprised, terrified, excited and so many other emotions mixed together that no words can accurately describe it all. It tilted it's head to the side and blinked twice as through confused, showing absolutely no signs of being phased by the constant missile and gunfire it was under. If it hadn't been for the fact that it retaliated and obliterated the others moments later, I might have found it kinda cute. As soon as the pilots fell, the driver gunned it. That car must have hit well over 80 because we got a good few miles away from it in a matter of minutes. They didn't say a single word about anything that just happened. They didn't even look back at that thing or me. By this point, enough was enough. I wanted, no, needed answers about it all. "Ok, that's it! What the hell was that thing?! What is going on here?!" I was almost yelling from the sheer frustration and confusion. The guy in the passenger seat upfront was the only one to say anything after a few good seconds of silence. "You'll find out once you get to NERV. We don't have the clearance nor the authorization to inform you."
