My stomach cringed every time I got off the bus. I hated going home because I knew SHE was home. That spineless woman I called mother. I opened the door and saw my mom, dad, and sister in the living room praising Melissa for her "excellent" report card.
"I'm so proud of you sweetie. Two A's, a B, and two C's! That's great." Our mom said.

"Thanks mom. Hey Millie. Let's see your report card." Melissa said. I gave them my report card and my mom instantly frowned.
"Three A's and Two B's." She said.
"The honor roll! That's great!" Melissa said. I gave her a small smile as I glanced at my mom.
"Take your report card and go to your room. Melissa, we're going to hang yours on the fridge." She said. A wave of disappointment came over me as I headed to my room. I sat on my bed and cried. Why does my mom not love me? What did I ever do to deserve this abuse?

The pained look on my little sisters face made me sad. My mom was always so mean to her and I never understood why. While my parents went to go get us dinner, I helped Millie with her homework and made her watch a movie with me. I admired her long curly hair and pretty skin color. I've always thought Millie looked like me, but for some reason, she looked different. I never questioned it because no matter what...she'd always be my little sister. My mom and dad came walking into the house doing their usual arguing, but once they saw us, they stopped.
