Ushio and Sakura were giggling when Ino suddenly caught up to them.
"Oh, here you are," she said smugly. "I really wondered if you two have managed to graduate."
"SHUT UP INO PIG!"
Ushio's face twitched in annoyance, they were always so loud. A sigh escaped her lips, was she like that at some point? Or was she always melancholic, to a length?
"YOU SHUT UP, BILLBOARD FOREHEAD--"
"Both of you shut up," Ushio mumbled too lowly for the two to hear, starting to walk off. Once, Ino, Sakura and her were all very close, until Ino decided she doesn't like that all of them are crushing on Sasuke, so she cut off the friendship.
Ushio wasn't willing to let it terminate the friendship built between her and Sakura; hoes before bros. No offence, obviously, as Sakura wasn't a hoe. Ushio quickly recalled the other sentence; Chicks before dicks?
Oh God, Naruto really did corrupt her mind.
Fries before Guys popped into her mind, and at that point she realized she's spent too much time in the presence of Choji and Shikamaru as well. What a drag.
Ushio started walking to the class, ignoring the bickering girls. It's not like she actually liked Sasuke, so why even bother spend her time?
She would sit next to Shikamaru Nara, who was her Shogi partner. Despite the fact Shikamaru was the ultimate lazyass, he was very intelligent, and as much as Ushio hated it, she knew he was smarter than her.
But in Shogi, she was better, since she taught him that, and perhaps she forgot to explain a few minor details and strategies that could or could not have helped him win.
Maybe.
She opened the door to the class, immediately getting tackled in a hug by an orange blurb.
"USHIO! I PASSED!" Naruto called happily, squeezing the life out of her.
"Is that any reason to kill me?" she asked, sighing. He stepped back, apologizing. Ushio laughed then, hugging him gently and congratulating him. "It's amazing Naruto! I am so happy for you!"
He laughed, slightly embarrassed, but simply told her "stop, you're flattering me, tell me more good stuff!"
"Naruto," she laughed, "you're such an idiot," she giggled, patting his arm. "But I'm really happy you passed."
It wasn't exactly a lie, she assured herself.

"Team Seven," Iruka suddenly announced. "Ushio Adachi," Ushio raised her eyes to the teacher, now listening. "Naruto Uzumaki," they grinned at each other. "Sakura Haruno," Naruto cheered loudly, and after a sigh (at Naruto), Sakura gave Ushio thumbs up. "And a fourth member;" the three all tuned in, intrigued at the addition. "Sasuke Uchiha!"
A howl of happiness from Sakura, a moan from Naruto and a smile from Ushio.
That team was actually better than she could have hoped.
She'd have Naruto, so she could still help him, she had Sakura, so she could have her best friend, and she had Sasuke- who will be her husband. Or at least that's what she told Sakura later.
"But Iruka, why do I, the greatest ninja in the world," Naruto overestimated himself, "have to be with this low-life slug of a ninja Sasuke?!"
Ushio blinked, glancing at Shikamaru next to her, his small brown eyes watching with disinterest.
