After we finished we then left Jo's and I offered to walk her home. She said she lived relatively close to school, just about two blocks away. I lived about two blocks away too, but in the other direction.
"What do you plan to do after high school?" she asked me as we walked.
"I have an internship set up with an art museum for the summer and I've applied to some colleges, how about you?"
"That's great, wow," she smiled at me as she congratulated me. "Well I'm not sure what I'm doing in the summer but I've applied to colleges too, hopefully I get in."
I wanted to say she's a smart girl, and she shouldn't worry about getting in but that would sound creepy since I don't really know her.
"I'm sure you'll get in," I said with a bright smile, which she returned.
She reached for my hand to hold, I assumed it was because it was getting cold, and accepted.
I hoped she couldn't tell how sweaty my palms were from being nervous, if she had she didn't say.
"I always loved Christmas," she said.
"Why?"
"I don't know really, it's just a cheerful time you know, everyone's happy, there is Christmas spirit about," she spoke very enthusiastically.
I smiled. "I know what you mean."
She laughed randomly, then noticed me eyeing her suspiciously. She laughed again, and though confused I smiled.
"I'm sorry, I was just remembering last year for Halloween I dressed up as Hermione, from Harry Potter, it was so fun, and I tried to do spells and stuff," she said hurriedly and laughed once again.
I chuckled. "So you like Harry Potter?"
"Love it actually. What did you go as last Halloween?"
I chuckled. "On Halloween, me and my friends watch a whole bunch of movies and eat a lot of junk food and we hand out candy to all of the kids who go trick-or-treating," I said emphasizing the last part, and smirked as best as I could.
She chuckled a little then shouted 'Expeliarmus' as she punched my shoulder.
I winced and said a very dramatic 'ouch', though admittedly it hurt quite a lot and I noted that she packs a punch. "Okay, maybe Halloween is for everyone."
She chuckled and smiled brightly. "Mad Muggle."
We walked in silence for about a minute but it wasn't awkward in the least bit.
"We're here," she said and we stopped at a rather well painted blue house, which was actually my favorite color.
"I like the color."
"Yeah, me too, I picked it out actually," she said. She had good taste.
I noticed I was still holding her hand, she noticed me noticing, she squeezed softly and I squeezed back.
"So I'll see you tomorrow?" she asked me, her voice low and airy.
"Yeah, you will," my voice coming out airy as well.
"Good," she smiled, "I thought you were gonna steal my Amsterdam idea."
I chuckled. "I wouldn't run away, I enjoyed our...date," I hesitated before saying date, I hope she let it slide.
She smiled. "Good, I enjoyed it too."
I then did something crazy and risky, which could've plunged the earth into sudden apocalypse; I pulled her in for a hug.
The risk was worth it; she smelled amazing, sort of like cinnamon and strawberries and she was warm, and so far there had been no apocalypse.
She wrapped her arms around me, seemingly enjoying the hug as much as me, and put her head against my chest.
I blushed to new levels.
We hugged for about 30 seconds then released each other, she was blushing also.
For the first time she looked nervous, "I'll see you tomorrow Dix."
I hurriedly thought of a nickname for her. "Tomorrow Lex ," at first she seemed surprised by the name, then she shook her head and smiled.
Then she walked to her door and went inside, leaving me alone outside.
Although it's quite a long walk home, I felt like walking. I even did the jump heel-kick thing in celebration. I was literally bursting with happiness.
I couldn't wait until I got home and texted my friends about this.
