Lesley

Lesley tossed and turned trying her hardest to block out the pitter patters of the tiny pelts hitting her window. She folded her pillow to cover her ears until the noise drowned out. She sighed finally being able to sleep in peace.

Her eyes became droopy and her body relaxed. The pillow rested comfortably flat now, he had given up and probably walked home. For that past two days Charlie had been driving to her house late at night to throw pebbles at her window until he realized she wouldn't come out to entertain him.

Baby come back!

Lesley's eyes shot open upon hearing the sound of loud music playing. It was loud enough for her to hear it from the second floor of her house, and probably loud enough for her neighbors to hear it too.

'Oh no'

Lesley sat up in her bed quickly shuffling out of her room lazily. She didn't realize that all she was wearing was a long shirt and her satin bonnet.

She creeped down the stairs as quietly as she could hoping her aunt wouldn't hear all the noise.

But as the sun goes down, I get that empty feeling again
How I wish to God that you were here

The stairs began to creek as she picked up her speed making a b-line to the front door. The instant she opened it, Lesley was reminded what time of the year it was and what she was wearing.

The cold pricked every inch of her exposed skin and made her teeth chatter slightly. She wrapped her hands around herself and began running her arms whilst walking towards the boy playing loud music.

Charlie was swaying slightly with his hand held up high holding his phone that was playing music.

"Charlie!" She quietly yelled. His eyes were already on her and he began stumbling towards her.

She took tiny steps towards him suspicious of his behavior. Once they were close enough to each other she tried taking his phone away from him to turn off the music. He held a tight grip while he stared at her with his dark blue eyes.

"Please?" She whispered as she looked up into his eyes. Lesley's eyes widened slightly at the sight of him.

Charlie's eyes were red and dim, like he hadn't had much sleep. His hair was a mess, it stuck out in different direction and had grown out some. His skin was pale and he wreaked of alcohol.

At the sound of her pleading, he let go of the phone and she hesitantly took her attention off of him and to the Song.

Suddenly, his arms found its way around her holding Lesley tightly. She tried pushing him off, but once she found out that wouldn't work, she stood there awkwardly and let him hold her.

She forgot how warm and safe he felt. Lesley couldn't help but relax into his tall frame. She didn't mind the smell of liquor if that meant he was holding her. They had only held each other once, and she remembered how much she wanted him to hold her again after that.

She felt something wet on her cheeks and sniffles coming from the tall boy In front of her.

She sighed quietly then slowly brought her arms around his neck and laid her head on his Jean clad chest. He nuzzled his head into her neck and held her tighter.

The night was quiet and cold and him next to her felt...good.

"I'm sorry."

He pulled away slightly so they both could see each other.

His cheeks were rosy and his nose was red. His blue eyes were glossy as they peered down intently at her.

"I know."

Both of them sat in his old blue mustang. She had brought him some water and Advil. Charlie had sobered up a little and it showed. He looked more rigid and stiff, he looked so different.

"Chloe's pregnant."

All the air left Lesley's body as she heard him say those words. She didn't move nor speak. Her eyes began to water as she scolded herself not to let him see her weak.

"She told me a couple of days ago."

Charlie

He stared straight ahead with both hands on the steering wheel like he was ready to just drive away. god, he wished he could just drive far away with the girl next to him and leave everyone and everything behind.

"Is it yours?" Her voice was shaky and uneven.

Charlie ran his fingers through his hair, "No, well I don't think so. While I was sober I know we didn't do anything, but I was drunk around her a lot and everything is blurry."

"W-why are you telling me this?"

"Because I can't stop think about you. And I know, you will never feel the same about me after everything that has happened, and this. Mierda, I don't know."

It was silent again and he watched as she fiddled with her fingers.

"When I saw these they reminded me of you," he pulled out daisies from the front pocket of his Jean jacket, "I remember you had one behind your ear on Wednesday."

She was handed the pretty flowers and as their fingers brushed against each other he let his hand linger for a moment before she pulled away.

"Thank you," her voice was quiet but it sounded different, like something was different.

Charlie felt like screaming and punching something. Everything was different, everything felt different. From the way she sat a bit closer to the passenger door, or how distant her voice sounded. The silence was suffocating and it felt like it was stabbing every inch of him.

"Goodbye, Charlie," the finality In her voice, the soft smile on her face, and the way she looked at him made his heart sink.

He watched as she threw him a quick smile before getting out of the car; and as her form retreated to front of her house.

Tears slid down his cheeks as he quickly wiped them away sniffling. Charlie backed out of her driveway and drove down the long road.

And she looked back one last time before closing the door.
