Adam knotted the ropes, wind, rain, and sea salt spraying in his face. He closed his eyes for a moment to enjoy it over the sickening rocking of the boat as the Captain shouted orders towards both him and the others.

Adam brought his hand to his eyes, shielding the rain from his face as he tightened the ropes around the masts, foot against the dark wood for leverage. His green eyes gazed about at the other sailors and out towards the storm as a wave crashed over the boat. The rope kept him anchored as the salt water swept several sailors away, others clinging to the mast and coughing to rid their lungs of the salty concoction.

The Captain barked orders from the rear of the boat, calling to someone to take the hull. He stomped over to Adam, and Adam gazed into the deep maroon eyes of his Captain.

"Adam!" Captain Ty barked.

"Yes, sir!" Adam responded, standing up nearly straight. The blood red coat of the Captain's swayed in the wind, dampened by the falling rain. Somehow, his hat stayed on, feather looking as if it could fly off at any moment. His fierce chocolate hair flew back in all different directions, following the wind's lead as a partner in a dance would follow the other.

"Ready the cannons!" Adam nodded, shouting the phrase back at the other pirates. They scurried off in different directions, some to get the cannonballs, some to get the gunpowder, and others to man the cannons themselves.

Adam could see the other boat on the horizon, coming nearer-- they were going to ram into the Starboard side if nothing was done to prevent it.

Untying the rope anchored to the mast(despite his earlier attempts to keep the rope in place), Adam jogged back and swung forward towards the enemy boat, letting go and getting just enough airtime to land at the hull.

Ty saw this and his eyes widened slightly as his men began to fire the cannons. He ordered a loud "cease-fire!" and  ran to the boat's edge, clutching the railing to watch Adam nearly lose his balance as he ran. He could barely see Adam, from the rain and clouds and the gray sky.

Adam teetered on the edge for a moment before drawing his sword, charging at the enemy captain. He gave a hearty blow as he caught the other by surprise. The captain collapsed, and he grabbed a hold of the wheel, adverting the boat's course as best as he could.

Despite Ty's best shouts, the men didn't seem to hear his calls, and fired at the other boat. It began turning to the side and Ty shouted evasive orders, but his crew was out of his command, now. They continued firing, and the enemies caught on fire.

They burned bright, and no amount of rain or sea water seemed to quench the flames roaring over the sturdy oak boat. Adam grimaced as the flames began to lick his boot. He wrenched the steering wheel off of its hinges, hooking the boat to the side as they came dangerously close to Captain Ty's boat.

Ty was rooting for Adam... he had faith in the other, and maybe feelings a captain shouldn't have towards his first mate.

Adam prepared to leap back to his boat when flames engulfed the floor in front of him, weakening the boards below his feet. He tumbled down, the wood snapping beneath him, and he crashed into the crates and barrels of the storage room below, wood splintering into his side. He began bleeding from his side, clutching the wound with his hand.

The way he had came was blocked by flames, and he growled slightly, dashing for the stairs.

They were blocked, too. Adam was trapped.

Captain Ty watched as Adam had fallen. He gasped, and attempted to see where he had gone. Adam was nowhere in sight.

He was trapped below the deck. Adam tried to break a hole in the ceiling when a cannon ball crashed into the side of the boat, causing the whole thing to rock to the side. His body was flung into the air, slamming against the opposite wall. If he couldn't go up, the only way to go was down.
