☆Adrien's POV☆

By now, Adrien had a long list of suprises.

1) Becoming Chat Noir, one of Paris' most beloved heroes.

2) The disappearance of his mother.

3) Lila obtaining the fox miraculous even though she is a jerk.

Those were only three of the many. He added "Marinette being Ladybug' close to the top.

The rose-colored flash of light traveled up her body. When it revealed pink jeggings and flats, Chat immediately recognized who it was.

"No way," he murmured under his breath so she wouldn't hear.

Finally, the mask and ribbons disappeared, and she turned her pained and tear-streaked face to him. He winced both on the inside and outside. I'm pretty sure noses aren't supposed to bend that way . . .

"M-Mari," Chat's breath hitched. He cleared his throat and ran up to her and kneeled next to her, helping her stand up on her wobbly legs, his eyes threatening to overflow. He had to stay strong for her. "Mari, we need to get you to a hospital."

Marinette's bottom lips quivered, then suddenly she folded her arms around his chest and sobbed. "Do you s-see why n-now?"

Chat wrapped his arms around her cute, petite body. "See what, Princess?"

"I'm not what you wanted!" She peered up at him, her cheeks red, eyes puffy, and nose worse than he'd seen it before. "I'm just Marinette. Clumsy, stupid, stuttering, boring Marinette that'll never be like Ladybug, one of the bravest, attractive, and flawless superhero Paris could ask for! This is why I didn't want to show you my civilian identity. Because I knew you'd be . . ." She bit her lip and shut her eyes, a few tears escaping. " . . . so disappointed."

Chat couldn't hold it in any longer. The salty water slipped out if his green eyes and onto her forehead and cheeks. "M-my Lady . . ." he choked, his voice too weak to continue.

"I told you!" She yelled, backing away and pointing a shaking index finger at him. "You can't deny it, Chat!"

"Mari, that's not-"

"It's not what?! Not what you meant? You can't ignore the truth because it will only cause you so much suffering! Don't let yourself go through this-"

Chat strode up to her and grabbed her face and brought her lips to hers gently, making sure not to hurt her nose. He felt kind of disappointed when she stiffened and didn't kiss him back. He pulled away, observing her flushed, broken face and Chat picked her up bridal-style and jumped from rooftop to rooftop before the press came. He stopped in front of the entrance of Tom and Sabine Boulangerie Patisserie.

"Pretend you fainted," he whispered, inches from her still red face, and he pushed the door open with his boot. "Mr. and Mrs. Dupain-Cheng!" he yelled, almost afraid he was too dramatic. "Your daughter--she got stuck in the mess that the akuma made and, well . . ." He walked towards Marinette's parents, passing her limp body to them.

Tom and Sabine quickly reached out and examined her with worry. Chat noticed she was still red, but he didn't mention it.

"Is she . . . ?" Sabine asked with her voice slightly cracking.

"No! I think she just passed out. But her nose . . ." Chat pointed out.

Tom gasped and Sabine made a choking noise in her throat. "We have to take her right away," they told one another. Sabine walked up to Chat and did something he didn't expect.

She hugged him.

"Thank you so much, Chat Noir. Thank you for protecting Paris, for bringing our daughter back. Thank you for everything," Sabine smiled warmly up at him. She was a very small woman, only half his height, and it was no surprise that Marinette was her daughter. What she said next brought his attention back.

Sabine added, "Tell that to Ladybug for me, as well."

Tell that to Ladybug for me. His words suddenly felt gummy and stuck to his tongue, so he just nodded.

Mr. and Mrs. Dupain-Cheng rushed him out of the building before flipping the open sign to closed and entered their hidden car, behind the bakery. Chat watched them drive away, eyes still a bit blurry. Get well soon, My Lady.

Adrien stepped onto school grounds, greeted by Chloé's squealing, Nino's "hi"s and pats on the back, and Alya's blabbering on and on about how cool Ladybug is.

But something was missing. Of course he knew it was Mari, but he didn't usually feel like this when she would stay home sick or missed a handful of classes because she was late.

"Hey where's Marinette?" Nino looked around.

Alya shrugged. "She's probably late, again. You know her, oversleeping or 'taking her dog to the vet," she said laughing.

"Well, I passed the bakery on the way to school, of course, and it was closed. It's usually open at this time," Adrien suggested.

"Wait," Alya held up a finger and pulling her phone out of her pocket. "I'll call her."

She held the phone up to her ear and tapped her foot impatiently. It went to voicemail and Alya took a deep breath and shouted, "HEY GIRL WAKE UP CALL! WE'RE ALL WAITING FOR YOU AT SCHOOL SO GET UP WHEN YOU'RE READY!" Alya pressed the end button and sighed. "Some people never learn."

Nino and his girlfriend laughed, but Adrien gave a fake one.

Only if they knew what really happened . . .
