School went by fairly smooth, but incredibly slow at the same time.
I walked to the front entrance and waited by the door for my mom to pick me up.
Student after student.
Hour after Hour.
"She forgot again," I whispered under my breath.
It was about seven thirty and my mom still wasn't here. She's probably at a bar drinking her life away, forgetting about me. At this point, I don't even want to go home, I'd rather stay here in the parking lot and go to sleep.
I just wish she would do better.
"What are you doing here so late?" I heard a door close behind me with footsteps coming my way.
I turned around to see Natsu heading in my direction, "I could ask you the same question."
"I had to stay for a meeting with my counselor, it took a little longer than expected. Now your turn." He said, sitting beside me on the sidewalk.
"My mom was supposed to pick me up, but she still hasn't shown up yet."
"Oh, well, I can take you home."
"That's a nice offer, but I don't want to be a burden."
"It's alright really, and I know you're cold too with no jacket on."
"No I'm ok, I practically live in the cold."
Why are you lying Lucy?!
"It's about fifteen degrees out here and I can see you shivering." He put his hand out, "come on, I'll take you home."
I sighed. I have no other choice but to go with him. I grabbed his hand. He lead me too his car which was an old pick up truck.
It looked like it was going to break down at any moment.
"I know what you're thinking, and yes the truck is perfectly stable. It's just a little old."
A little!?
I hesitantly hopped in the passenger seat and buckled my seat belt.
"So what's the address?"
"Fifty seven twelve cherry blossom road."
"Woah, you live right across the street from me."
"Oh so you're the family moved in? Well, hello neighbor." Smooth Lucy...
He chuckled, "hello neighbor, it's nice to finally meet you." He started the car as I slowly started regretting this decision to drive home with him. For all I know he could be a serial killer!
We started our drive home, and it was an awkward but comfortable silence. Don't ask me how.
"You hungry?" He asked.
"No not really." But my stomach had another answer.
He chuckled, "I know this restaurant about twenty minutes away from here, wanna go?"
"I don't know, I really have to get home."
"Oh come on, it'll be fun, and you get to fill your tummy with delicious food. I say that's a win win."
"I don't have any money though."
"It's ok, I'll pay."
"Ok, I promise I'll pay you back."
"No need."
"I can't do that, I have to give you something."
"Ok, what I want is your undivided attention and amazing conversation skills."
