The food came out. It looked so delicious!
"Enjoy you guys. Call me if you need anything." The woman gave us a warm smile and left to the kitchen.
I immediately dug my fork into the pasta. The melted cheese, the perfectly cooked pasta wrapped around my fork sent my nose wild as I breathed in the delicious smell. I stuffed it in my mouth and felt so satisfied. This probably has to be the best pasta I've ever eaten.
"You look happy," Natsu smiled.
"This pasta is really good," I said, with a stuffed mouth. He laughed at my childish antics.
"I'm glad you're enjoying it. Eat as much as you want. It's all on me."
"I can't do that. That's too much-"
"Luce, it's what friends are for. Let me treat you today."
"Fine, but I'll pay you back."
"No you won't, you're just going to sit there and eat your heart out." He smiled.
I smiled while taking another bite out of my pasta. Of course I'm going to pay him back, I can't start depending on someone who may not be in life much longer.
"Hey Natsu?"
"Yes?"
"Why did you want to become an artist?" I said, trying to make conversation.
He seemed taken aback by my question, but then he faced me with the most saddest smile I've ever seen, "I guess it's because of my mom, when me and my brother were little she taught us about painting and sculpting, it was my favorite thing to do with her, but ever since she got sick, she really isn't able to paint anymore and because of that I kinda lost my passion." He rested his chin in his hand, "if it wasn't for her then I wouldn't be who I am today."
"Your mother sounds like a nice person." I said, slurping my noodles.
"She is, I would love for you to meet her one day."
"Wow, we just met a couple days ago and you're already inviting me to your mom's house. I feel special."
He chuckled, "so enough about me, what about you?"
"What about me?"
"What are your hobbies? What do you like to do on your free time? Your family?"
"Well, I love to read and write on my free time."
"Ooh, another bookworm. I have a friend who's exactly like that."
"Yeah writing is my passion."
"So what about your family? Any brother or sisters?"
"As far as I know, I'm the only child."
"What about you're mom and dad?"
"Umm..." I finished the rest of my pasta and pushed the plate foward, "I'm not really on good terms with my mom and I don't see my dad often."
"Oh, I don't see my dad often either."
"What happened to your dad?"
"He remarried and moved across the country. I only get to see him in the summer, but when I do I don't even get end up hanging out with him, he's always working."
"Must be hard."
"Yeah I just wish he would actually start caring about me."
"You and me both." I whispered.
One of the girls came out of the kitchen with two slices of cakes, "It's on the house. I hope you two are enjoying yourselves. "
"Thanks Lis."
