On the way into town Kassidy asked more questions. It was raining still, but she sat in the coach. Vincent was the one getting wet as he had to lead the horses. He didn't mind though.

  "Vincent."

"Yes, my Lady", he called over the storm.

"I've been thinking, don't we have a contract, but why aren't you going to eat me."

"Well my Lady, some demons have a limit to how many souls they can eat, your father was my last one."

"Then why do you stay with me, why didn't you just leave me in a girls home like my father asked."

Vincent pulled the coach into town, and stopped at a corner for traffic. He turned, and looked in on Kassidy smiling. "My, Lady, I have practically raised you, I'm as loyal as a dog due to my wolf instincts, you could say I took a liking to you."

Vincent turned and started the horses again, Kassidy thought about his words.

Finally Vincent stopped the horses, he slid down from his seat and tied them to the pole. He patted both of them, and gave them an apple.

He grabbed Kassidy's  umbrella, then opened the coach's door. He offered his hand, and assisted Kassidy in getting out. "I almost wish I could leave you at the mansion this weather is not for a noble lady."

"Vincent you still have not fully answered why we have a contract, but you do not wish to kill me", she huddled under the umbrella.

He moved the umbrella to shelter her more, "Why are you so interested in this all of a sudden."

She thought about it for a minute, "I guess because I was thirteen when we formed the contract, I may of forgotten some of the details."

They began to walk, Vincent sighed. "Let's just say you are a rare human, not many demons get to raise a human, I may have added things to how you were raised that some demons would want." Vincent paused at a puddle, he picked Kassidy up and carried her through it. "Due to some demons having the same taste, you may of been at risk, because I can't have you, someone else will."

Kassidy thought about his words as they walked. "I've never thought of myself being in that much danger."

"You have no idea, my Lady", Vincent opened the door to the post office, Kassidy walked in as he shook the umbrella and himself off. The office was quiet today, no doubt the storm.

Vincent walked to the counter where the man in charge was, "I was here to see if a few items have come in for the Halsted Estate", he stated soberly.

The man in charge looked through his books, "yes, they came in yesterday", the man looked at Vincent, "what is your ofiliation with the estate, and have you come to pick them up."

Vincent spoke in his normal butler voice, "I am the estates head butler and steward, my Lady is not able to handle such details."

The man nodded his head in agreement, "yes I remember, this young lady had a ruff beginning with her mother passing away during child labor, and her father dying in that carriage accident. It's a good thing you have stuck close to her these years."

Vincent looked down shamefully, "that's the job of a butler, we can't leave when there is a job to do, I promised her father when I began working for him that I would take care of her."

"Your a true man if I've ever seen one", the man stated in amazement.

Vincent looked at him, "no sir, just a butler.

After that Vincent signed the paper work, and paid the man. While the man went into the back for the packages, Vincent stood by Kassidy, she had been looking at a beautiful crystal statue. "It's lovely isn't it", the man came from the back, "Lady Jay's servants will be here soon to get it."

Vincent not one for to much short talk bowed to Kassidy, "My Lady, please allow me to carry these to the coach, then I'll return and you can drag me to all of your favorite stores.

This made Kassidy and the man behind the desk laugh. "Your a smart butler, Mister Blueblood, aren't you", the man said grinning.

Vincent turned and smiled, "she does it to me all the time."

He carried the packages to the door, "please have me excused for a few minutes", he bowed again.

"You and your butler have a special bond don't you."

Kassidy nodded in agreement, "yes I've never questioned his loyalty to me."
