Elli

October 5, in the year of 8845, Reminis Calendar (RC)

Elli opened her eyes and cursed under her breath.

Why would she keep dreaming about Vadiraj? He must be manipulating my mind. That would only be the legit reason. The thirty days of her captivity was the worst and most tormenting tenure she had experienced in her life, apart from the day she watched her father die. She kept affirming herself that Vadiraj was a ruthless murderer. But she wouldn't deny that he had his compassionate side too, when he was alone with her.

Something moved in her arm, jolting her out of her thought. Marko was sitting up, arms stretching out. "Marko, you are alive!" She threw herself at him.

Brushing, he pushed her aside.

"Well, I am a healer myself." He smiled.

The other members threw themselves at him too, glad to have him back. After a six-arm hug from Benedict the giant, Marko tried to stand up but his legs wobbled.

Elli draped a hand around his waist to support him. "Don't pretend that you are a hero. Just admit that you are still weak." The group laughed, even Roxy.

Dorris chanted a morning wake-up song when all of a sudden, a shrill voice broke out. "So, nobody died last night except the Vampists, huh?"

The voice made them jump to their feet.

They looked up and realised that it belonged to a witch in a black cloak. Her skin and messy shoulder-length hair were dark and smoky, as if she had been zapped by lightning. A black mole dotted on her right cheek, next to a smoke breathing silver tattoo. Seconds later, two similar black figures hailed their flying lynx and stopped before the group. Mushy yelped in fright once it saw the witches. Without bidding farewell, it dived off the cliff and disappeared into the forest.

Coward, so much of wanting to join us, Elli snorted.

The one-mole witch ignored the mushroom and walked towards the group. "Well, well, well, three Black-Borns, a pygmy and a giant, travelling with a human. Such a big group, huh, but I don't care. Explain your errand. Why are you lurking at our doorstep?"

"I say, you have a large doorstep." Lukas urged an edgy smile. Seeing the rocky expression of the witches, he gave up smiling. "We are on our way to the Mount of Bi-Zantine to kill the Vampists from their base. We had to overnight here to avoid the rain, not knowing it's your property."

"Olivia, now that they are here, we can launch our program," a two-mole witch said to the leader. Her ring-encrusted fingers rested dreamily under her chin.

"Indeed, Eda, the more the merrier. We might have some problems with the giant but we'll see." Olivia turned to them, smiling an ugly smile. "Come join us for breakfast. You must be hungry."

Rooney strode towards the one-mole witch, almost tripping himself. The witches were tawny but they still stood taller than him. Seeing his threat fail, he swerved to the entrance and stood opposite it, where the rays of the new-rise sun shone through, making his height doubled. Seeing his towering shadow, he poised his chest and spoke with higher confidence. "Get out of the way, witches. Didn't you hear us? We're leaving." He swung his axe before them.

Smirking, Olivia tapped her wand at his chest. His face turned purple and his hands twisted into weird angles, breaking into a funny dance. He coughed when Olivia finally removed her wand. "Now you're listening, how sweet," she said, while pressing a button on a remote control.
