"Everyone get back!" Yuki screamed at the Day Class students. "It's time to go back to your dorms as it's past closing time!" She continued to shout, holding out her arms in an attempt to keep the day class girls at bay, as they were trying to climb over each other to reach the black heavy metal gate. I was stood at a short distance, overlooking the drama unfolding before me. The gates opening, as they did every evening, and every sunset the Night Class students would leave to go to class. The Day Class students would cause an uproar of excitement as they left, which is why I would stand here, looking at the students with a glare that no one would dare cross.

As the Night Class students left, I glanced over at Yuki, who had fallen over, again. I sighed walking over to her, but before I could reach her someone had already got there before me. Kaname Kuran. My hatred grew for him at every sight, even more so as he bent down towards her, his brown hair falling over his shoulder as he raised his pale hand to touch her face. I had enough, I paced over towards them and grabbed Kaname's hand and yanked it away.

"Zero?" Yuki shouted.

I turned to Kaname, "Class has started... Kuran"

Kaname pulled his hand away from my grip. His calm face unfazed by what I had just done.

"Your scaring me, Mr. Prefect" Kaname's sarcastic voice replied as he turned and walked away, leaving me and Yuki to share a silent moment together.

As Yuki looked at Kaname as he left, her eyes held much sadness, but also full of hope. Interrupting her moment I turned to her and said

"Look, it's none of my business of how much you love Kuran, but you do understand, right?"

Yuki looked at me in a sharp but playful way and said "Shut up, I know already. That they're... Different from the rest of us"

I knew what Yuki was thinking, and no one in the entire school knew it but us, but the Night Class isn't just a group of beautiful students, every one of them is a Vampire. That is why me and Yuki are Guardians of the school, to protect the secret of the Night Class. Even though I don't like having them here, I still have to follow orders.

After the last of the Day Class students had left, and the Night Class had gone to their classes, I had to endure another meeting with the Headmaster, which led to him ranting on about his pacifist ideas and why he wanted Vampires and humans to co-exist. Before annoying me any further, having already put my fist through his wooden desk, I left to go on patrol, leaving Yuki to sort him out. I didn't see Yuki for the rest of the night, I hoped she was ok.

The following day we had class, but me and Yuki were too busy trying to catch up with our sleep from last night. Working all night and then having to do classes in the day was too much, which is why we fell asleep most of the time. When I woke up, it was to the sound of an empty class, apart from Yuki waking up in front of me, I was guessing we stayed behind for detention, again. After we had done the detention and having to sort the Day Class students out, me and Yuki headed up to the building's roof to watch over the school, and to make sure no Day Class students were out where they shouldn't be.

After talking to Yuki for a while I decided to patrol elsewhere, leaving Yuki to stay by herself with her thoughts. I wanted to talk to her more, but I had no idea what to say, Yuki's adopted father, the headmaster, is the only one who knows, why I hide my pain from her... Why I can't be close to her, because I am afraid of what she will do, if she knew the truth...
