Confused Feelings (CoAi Story)

Prologue

"Kudo!" Haibara Ai clutched Kudo Shinichi's unconscious body, her small frame trembling with fear.

Her eyes welled up with tears.

"N-no... this can't be happening. Please—open your eyes," she pleaded, her voice quivering.

Ai's tiny arms tried to wrap around Shinichi, but her strength was failing her.

Just moments ago, she had been watching Shinichi, so happy to be in his true form and eager to meet Ran. But in a split second, when they had let their guard down, everything went horribly wrong.

Shinichi had been shot in the head by a random drugged-up criminal who had stumbled across them.

Ai couldn't believe it. She had prepared herself for the worst, expecting something like this to be orchestrated by the Black Organization—but not by some random crazed gunman!

"Missy, don't cry—sooner or later, you'll join your onii-chan," the criminal sneered, raising his gun and pointing it at Ai.

Haibara Ai glared at the man with fierce hatred, the man responsible for all of this.

"Damn you..." she hissed through clenched teeth. "Damn you!" she screamed, tears streaming down her face.

(Bang!)

That was the last thing she heard before everything went black.
