Returning to my Jarl

A/N : This is the first blurb I've done I'm the 3rd person. I think I prefer this way better. Maybe I'll dabble in 2nd person sometime soon. :)

Torra ascended the dais. Irellith caught sight of the young Nord approaching, and leaned over to whisper a few hurried words to her Jarl.

"Torra, my friend!" Jarl Balgruuf had brushed Irellith away, much to her annoyance, to greet the newly - appointed Thane. "What brings you back to Dragonsreach so soon?"

The woman offered a polite smile and a stiff bow, before replying: "I came to retrieve my Housecarl."

"Ah," the Jarl murmured, seeming a bit crestfallen.

Upon hearing mention of herself, Lydia lifted her head from the table and glanced briefly at her Thane before giving her attention to Jarl Balgruuf.

"Would you care to stay for some lunch, Torra? I was just about to settle down for some myself." Balgruuf said after a moment's silence.

"Thank you for the offer, my Jarl, but, as you probably know, I've been seen in the company of the Companions. I've been tasked with riding to Southfringe Sanctum and killing the Spellswords that have taken residence there. It'd be best if I leave as soon as possible."

the Jarl nodded. "Alright, Torra. Make sure you grab a bite to eat before heading so far south. And make sure you have something to cover your shoulders with. It gets cold down there!"

The young Nord grinned. "I will, my Jarl." She made a fist over her heart and bowed her head.

Balgruuf returned the gesture. "Lydia! Your Thane calls for your services. Don't fail her, understand?"

The brunette rose from her seat at the great dining table. "Yes, my Jarl." She then turned to Torra, and offered a slight smile. "I am your sword and shield. I'll protect you with my life."

Torra gave a final nod to Balgruuf, them beckoned Lydia to follow as she turned on her heels and made her way out of Dragonsreach.

A/N : This one wasn't as long as my other 2, I know. This was something that popped into my head while I was playing Skyrim a few minutes ago, and I felt compelled to write it down. Not too shabby. :3
