"Who is it that dares enter our forsaken home?!" He bellowed from his throne. Cheers went up from the crowd surrounding us as the Goblin stepped down from his throne, bumbling over to eye us up. "One witch, one flying horse, and-my!" The King Goblin stopped at me and his eyes flitted between Pegasus and I. He obviously wasn't blind. "Two Wanted criminals! King Zelrox will be pleased."
He knows who we are. I told Pegasus.
We need to leave. He replied. The Requiem Army will not be far behind us. The Gargyons are bound to discover us soon enough.
But what if they didn't survive the storm? I asked hopefully.
Unlikely. They are Gargyons, Silver. What did you expect? I sighed. Pegasus was right.
But how do we escape?
I don't know. We'll need a miracle to get out of this one.
"Send a message to his Royal Highness telling him we have the girl and her show pony." I heard the King Goblin telling a small wrinkled Goblin, who cackled and wrote down everything he said. Then it was off, and there was no way to stop it as it scuttled through the crowd to carry out its errand. I watched in dismay as it left, when my attention was diverted back to the King Goblin as he returned to his throne. Turning and sitting down, servant Goblins scrambled to duck his scepter as he spun it round and pointed it at us.
"Lock 'em up! I'm sure King Zelrox should not mind if they are a little...scratched."
Dimitri and I were thrown into a large circular cage whose walls were made of thorns. Pegasus was left chained to a bar that forced his head down from its proud stance. Because he was so tired, Pegasus' wound wasn't healing like it should, and he held it as high as he could to avoid putting pressure on it. The cage was held in place by dodgy-looking ropes that only just prevented us from toppling off the edge of the ledge we were precariously placed on.
Goblins had gathered everywhere, crowding the bridges, and the ground. For a couple of minutes we sat there, both of us warily eyeing the guards who tried to keep the Goblins back. Suddenly one Goblin broke from the crowd near the side, and rushed up to us. I scrambled back with Dimitri, but the Goblin raised one hand to his lips.
A human hand.
The Goblin was hooded to hide his face, but strands of dark black hair gave him away. He looked at his watch and I caught a glimpse of familiar chocolate brown eyes.
"Twenty seconds." He muttered, before beckoning me forward. "We're busting you outta here."
"T-Athin, what are you doing here?" I asked in a hushed voice.
"My name is Tomas. That word means nothing to me." Ath-Tomas told me. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you, but I'll explain later." Once again, Tomas looked at his watch. "Five, four, three, two...one. Hold on!" The roof above us shook for a second, dust dropping from the ceiling. It was silent, but all of the Goblins had stopped struggling and now looked to the roof. I went to say something, but Tomas quietened me, a huge smile on his face.
Suddenly, the roof caved in and a deafening roar shook the entire mountain. Sapphire landed through the hole she had punctured, her back towards us as she spouted flames at the Goblins. Tomas pulled out a knife and began cutting away at the thorns. Once I was free, I ran to the stash where my weapons were held, and slung my bow and arrows over my shoulder. Grabbing a Goblin axe, I ran to Pegasus and smashed his chain.
As soon as he was free he reared and whinnied. Dimitri ran over to me, bumping into Tomas on the way. He quickly apologized, before coming to my side.
