Chapter Eight: "The Masquerade"

[Sebastian Duerre]
"I don't even know why I even came back here. I mean I've taken down everything. My photos on the internet, my facebook account, my twitter account and do you even know how hard it is to keep girls from posting my face on the internet? And the media! Don't get me started on the media! I lost a lot of my money to those cumsucking pricks." I complained. Okay, I know I sound like a whiney baby but I'm not usually like this. Trust me.
I paced back and forth in my office that was in the first floor of "The Belle la Vie"
My sister sat and played with her nails on the lounge chair as I ranted on. And they say I was the careless one. Get this, she's 30 and already has children of her own.
"And really? Tatiana LaRusso? Couldn't you think of a better name Sabelle?" I deadpanned but didn't stop pacing. She just let out a hearty laugh and shook her head.
"Relax little brother! I mean, what have you got to complain about?! You're 21 and the heir to all this..." she gestured at the whole place, "...and all the other ones all around the world. Not a penny will be given to us by père. You lucky lucky first born bastard." She shook her head slowly and tsked me.
"And he's selfish and inconsiderate, why do you think I ran off? When I get all of this, I'm giving the little monster half of the empire." I declared, referring to my little brother. "You..." I pointed her, "You're already rich so no need for a share, eh? Also, I asked you here because I wanted to know your opinions on my possible "wife-to-be." You went to their place and pretended to be a party planner am I correct?"
"That's what you sent me there for you idiot." she chuckled and stood up straight. She crossed her arms over her chest and started to pace back and forth too but more relaxed and much more slowly. "Well... I still am their planner so I have more to see. I haven't seen model behaviour but I did meet her assistant."
I stopped and faced her. I walked to her and held both of her shoulders to make her stop walking. I shook her and exclaimed, "And?!"
"And she's a lovely little creature." she squealed in delight at my face.
"Victoria?" I cocked an eyebrow in confusion.
"No! Iris I think was her name. God you're annoying! Didn't I tell you that I haven't met Victoria yet?!"
"I have..." I stated. Her eyes went wide and this time she grabbed me by the shoulders.
"And?!" she exclaimed just as how I did earlier. Hm, I do look like her after all.
"And I hang out with her brother in boarding school. He's been calling me since I went AWOL but I don't want to pick up. I can't. He must have heard about the thing with that thing that I don't want to do." I turn into this 10 year old when I'm around my sister. "I just want your opinion on her!"
"Why are you here again?" she asked.
"Our father is blackmailing me! If I do not attend this event and outshine prince pansy-ass and Victoria's other suitors he's releasing my pictures to the press!"
"Is that a problem that people get to see your face?!"
"Yes Isabelle!" I replied, "They'll find me if he does. Once I get out of that event, once it's over you know I'm leaving again and I don't want him to find me until I'm done recollecting myself. It'll be much more easier for him to spot me if women around the world have identified me and oh I don't know...eat me alive!"
"Well then. That explains it... good luck little brother, see you in the event." she patted my head as if she would to a puppy and practically skipped out of the office in high heels.
"Sabelle!" I called out but she didn't seem to hear because the door was already closing behind her as I yelled it.
I took a deep breath and stole a few short moments to contemplate everything. Then I half-consciously dialled Tobi Bellerose's number on the phone.
It only took four rings before he answered.
Well technically it wasn't him who answered...it was a girl.
"Tobias is in the restroom right now, this is an assistant. How may I help you uhh...Sebastian?" she hesitated.
"Y-yes. It's um Sebby. Who is this?"
"Iris Greene? His.....assistant?" she hesitated once more. I kept silent for a while but then she pulled me back in, "Hello?"
"Hello." I replied. "Umm how'd you know my name's Sebastian?"
She giggled. "Sorry. Did I freak you out?"
"Don't apologize. Laugh all you'd like! I could just listen to your laugh all day."
"Uhhhh..."
"I mean...yeah? Sorry what?"
"Caller ID."
"O-oh..."
"How may I help you sir?"
"Please tell Tobias Bellerose to find me in the Prince's ball. Is that clear?" I clarified firmly but I hadn't meant to use that tone on her. I heard her sigh on the other end of the line but she was clearly trying to block that out since the sound came out all muffled.
"Yes sir. I'll make sure he gets the message. Is there anything else?" she asked wearily.
"Yes. I'm sorry." I said quickly and hung up.
-
[Ana]
"Well that was weird." I said after the guy hung up. I stared at Tobi's phone as if that man was going to come out of it and reveal himself.
"So? Who was it?" Poppy asked as she sat down beside me, chewing a bagel in her mouth. We were at a starbucks in the airport. Yes, we have arrived and we're very much exhausted. The rest of the gang went straight to the hotel. Tobias―idiotic as he is―needed to do some errands that he wanted to do here and not back at home where we all weren't too tired from a freaking trip.
"Someone named Sebastian." I said and shrugged at her. "Can I have a bite?"
"Sure." she put it out for me to bite and I did. "So this ball thing..." she began. I already explained why we had to go here and the reason why I brought her along before I let Tobi speak on my behalf in yet another heated 'family meeting' after the other one, which is... So I wouldn't be completely alone while the Bellerose's attend the royal ball. Now I can easily pass off as a non-suspicios-slash-guilty-looking assistant.
"What about it?" I said as I slid Tobi's phone back in my purse. I carry almost everyone's phones with me, at least one of theirs if not all.
"Why aren't you going?" she asked and made a face. I pretended to look up and think, after a while I said,
"Maybe because the whole point for the whole identity change was to keep people from finding out who I really am and by doing that is to not attend family events unless necessary." with a 'duh' tone to it.
"Olaf the body guard and Tal gets to go. They aren't even family." she pointed out.
"Olaf is a body guard. Of course he should go. Tal is a nanny, why not? They asked me to go but I don't really feel like going to an event where people can size me down, make me feel like a fish-out-of-water, a nobody when I'm 'hanging' with the rich, glamorous and famous in my little black 'unimportant-assistant-dress'." I said flatly and soon enough Poppy stopped talking.
"Well then Anastasia...when in London..." she winked suggestively and I couldn't help but let out a laugh.
"Okay then crazy girl fun it is." I nodded. Poppy and I have this sort of language, it's kind of like telepathy, we can just look at each other and it becomes a conversation to us already.
She was about to say something, her mouth half open when a voice from behind her said...
"What are you little birdies talking about? What crazy girl fun?" Tobi walked towards our table and sat on the empty chair we left for him that was in the middle of mine and Poppy's.
"Don't call us that, jeez." I scowled. "Oh you know, girl talk." I added nonchalantly. He bumped his knee to mine, he could do that since coffe shop tables were awfully...small.
"Seriously." he said sternly.
"Can we just go now? What were you even doing anyway?" I asked with a tone of obvious annoyance at him.
"I can't not get Penelope a gown lovely as her. She too has to go to the ball. Also. I needed someone from back home to ship your gown here before the event." he said. Poppy blushed of course. Didn't I tell him not to do that to us already?
"What gown?" I asked, clearly puzzled.
"The one I got you." he said. He looked at me as if he was trying to decipher a code. Seriously. What gown?
After the longest silence she's ever released in history, Poppy spoke up. "You bought me a dress?" she cocked a brow at Tobi. He shifted his gaze to her and nodded enthusiastically.
"You're pretty already but I can't let you be my date to the ball without the proper attire." he said.
"Date?" she turned red as a tomato. She's pale. It's easy. I rolled my eyes and interrupted his flirt fest.
"Yo Johnny Bravo." I cut in. "You didn't get me a gown."
"God Ana." he slapped a palm on his face in exasperation. "What do you think was inside that big white box I gave you? The nation of Israel?! You didn't even open it, didn't you?"
That made me shut up. I smiled innocently and shrugged at him. He smiled back bitterly and shook his head slowly.
"I'd love to sit here and chat about your sibling problems but I think we all do need a rest especially Ana because we're going to have crazy girl fun and she doesn't want to go to the ball." Poppy spoke up on my behalf.
"Thank you attorny Richards. I appreciate that." I mocked nodding in gratitude and she nodded back. Meanwhile Tobi glanced at her, quite seducingly. I know what he's doing... "Why are you looking at me like that?" she asked bewildered. Her eyes bulged in horror because well she knows what this guy is capable of and she knows that she has a weak spot for boys who, well, look like my brother.
"Nothing." he smiled.
"I'm not immuned to men like you. Please stop that." she pleaded. I, once again, cut in.
"Let's go!" I demanded. He just chuckled and stood up.
"We shall. He offered his hands to both of us. We took it as he helped us up. Each of us grabbing our own suitcases.
"What now?" Poppy asked as she caught up beside me.
"He got you a nice dress. He basically seduced you into being his date and I'm pretty much stuck here." I admitted and sighed as I glanced at her. Tobi caught up on my other side.
"So?" Poppy asked, she still haven't figured out my point there.
"So... I guess we could drop by the ball." I shrugged and she basically―even though she tried, NOT HARD ENOUGH!―squealed in excitement. I glanced at a smiling Tobi.
"Oh shut your face Tobias." I said annoyed and he immitated Poppy's squeel. I fast walked away from the two and rolled my eyes.I glanced back at them and couldn't help but smile, they were skipping. SKIPPING. Like little kids who found a house made out of candy.
"By the way Tobi. A Sebastian Duerre called." I said and they both stopped. "What?!" they exclaimed in unison, looked at each other then at me. "What?" I repeated.
-
"So you're saying that this guy has been, what was it again? Oh, MISSING?!" I exclaimed. Some things are hard to belive. Especially this one.
Poppy nodded nonchalantly and flopped on her bed. We were in her hotel room that was right across the hall to mine. She was scrolling through her tweets while I was busy on my laptop typing away emails, answering fans (not mine, mind you), looking up the bachelor list that's interested and maybe even forced in the future into some engagement that's apparently star-crossed, and no I'm not talking about the couple I'm talking about their parents and the money.
"That's impossible! You're telling me that this famous young and supposedly good-looking guy who goes to an ivy league academy filled with equally famous, good-looking, rich young people; played soccer for Manchester United for a season; raced cars in Formula 1; is the heir of the Duerre Company, disappered in the face of the earth, not heard of, no trace at all. Just went Alaska Young on everyone and now he calls Tobi and says to meet him in the ball?!" I caught my breath after everything that I just said as I watched and listened to Poppy.
"Well he didn't play for the team technically. He just trained with them. He was too engrossed on the business and the college and the women!"
"Poppy!" I interrupted.
"Oh right. Yeah yeah, the weird part is he paid every single entertainment and news media, even certain websites in the internet to NOT show his face at all. As in they erased Sebastian Duerre from the earth by erasing him from the internet and television screens." she informed, quite calmly.
"This is a big deal. He's actually on the list I just found out." I said as I read through his bio data.
"No picture?" she asked and gave me a small smile.
"No. So weird because every guy has one." I answered as I shook my head in confusion. "This guy could be a spy for Pete's sake. he's really good at being..well invisible!" I said. "This is way unrealistic man."
"My dear Anastasia. If you would have seen him you will faint. He's just as unrealistic as he could get." she sighed dreamily.
"You 've seen him?" I asked.
"No, but that's what Effie told me." she stated. Effie was a friend who's about to head to a different college in Washington. "I only know that shit because I'm googling him right now. his wiki page is still up minus all the intimate details.
"Well that's a bummer isn't it?" I decided to humor her. "Come on. I'll show you the others." she squeeled and skipped to my side happily. When she reached me, she craned her neck next to my head as I clicked to the next bachelor. "Oh shit!" I swore. What the heck is Marcus Mercer doing on the list?!
I turned to Poppy and found her to be just as surprised as I am. Although she kept her eyes on the screen, I saw the look of familiarity on her face, the look of total shock too.
"Next guy please." she said, almost seriously and it sounded and looked weird to me. Seeing Poppy so serious like that it was like watching a fish walk on land.
"Okay." I obeyed and clicked on the next guy.
"Oooo he's beautiful!" Poppy commented. I took a lot of time as I stared on to his face. He really is and it's scary that someone would be as beautiful as that. As in, he isn't just handsome he is one beautiful boy. Enticing really. You can stare at that face for hours, but I didn't want to. I'm afraid to say this boy would make you fall for him, metaphorically speaking, you can take it in the literal manner too because you would seriously fall to your knees at the sight of him.
"He's also a Prince of England. An heir to the throne and from what I've observed, out of our leagues." I deadpanned. She giggled. "
"Honey, let's go clean up and we'll see if that's still what you think when I'm done with you." she beamed and grabbed me by the hand, helping me up.
-
[Marc]
"Seriously Delilah?" I asked in an irritated tone. Who the fuck arranges arranged engagements anyways? Competing for a lanky model with 4000 dickwads that can't last a day without their nannies sounds lame. I can have 40 models if I wanted without asking my mommy.
"Seriously. This girl is well bred. You'll like her." she waved me off even though we were siiting next to eah other on a first class plane ride and I had no where else to go from there.
"No I'm not." I argued and moved away from her a little and scowled.
"That wasn't a question Marcus. I was dictating." she finally looked up at me from her phone and forced a tight smile.
"Like the dictator you are." I beamed then rolled my eyes.
"Indeed I am son. Now do me a favor and don't have intercourse with any of the flight attendants while I doze off." she ordered, dropped her phone in her hermes purse and made herself comfortable.
"I don't know Delilah. It is a long trip." I shrugged and teased. Well not really. It is a long trip after all and I have spotted one who's good enough to taste.
"I will literally throw you off the damned plane Marcus." she threatened as she closed her eyes.
"Okay Delilah." I smiled even though she couldn't see me. Actually, I only smile around her when she can't see me doing it.
"I can feel you smiling." she sang and grinned. I dropped it and frowned again. I gave up the rebel act for the trip though after a few seconds. No matter how fucking hard I try I can never forget why I love this woman.
"Sweet Dreams mom." I whispered and kissed her cheek. "I promise I won't."
-
[Ana]
"I hate you." Poppy stated blankly as we stood face to face in my hotel room. We just finished getting ready for the masquerade without any professional help. Poppy feels that she's professional though.
"I hate you." I repeated.
"You're beautiful and I hate you for that." she deadpanned.
"Shut your beautiful mouth that's plastered on your beautiful face Penelope." I said.
"We look so fucking good. Even I admit it." she screamed and fist pounded.
"Awwwwwwwwyeah!" I howled and we jumped on the bed in our gowns, bouncing like a couple of 5-year-olds. "I'm a princess!"
"Of course you are! We're ruining our hair!" she yelled.
"It's prettier this way!" I yelled back and laughed. "We're late!"
"We're high!"
"What the?" a voice said. We stopped and I nearly fell if it wasn't for Poppy who hugged me to safety. We both slowly turned out heads to the side in unison and found Tobi standing there, hands in his pockets, looking devilishly handsome and pretty much freaked out by our behaviour. "You are?"
"Well what do you think?" I said as Poppy let go of me. I placed my hands on my hips and frowned at him.
"I think I'm in the wrong room. Have you seen my sister?" he teased. "Long brown hair, blue eyes, really geeky looking too. She's with this hot blonde that I've been waiting to get with."
I rolled my eyes and turned to Poppy. She was looking at me too and let me tell you, we weren't amused. We grabbed a pillow and threw it on his face. After that we jumped off the bed and grabbed our shoes.
"This is just like prom! You know when you got forced into going." Poppy reminded as we slid on our borrowed designer shoes and walked outside leaving Tobi. A moment later we heard the door click close as we walked through the hall and felt him trailing behind us.
"Yeah only like ten times worse." I frowned and balled my hands into fists feeling the clamminess of my palms.
"Why so?" Tobi asked finally catching up with us.
"Because everyone in the room are kings and queens and popular and blonde..."
"Hey!" Poppy exclaimed
I went on like I didn't hear anything.
"....And beautiful and significant and like prom, I will feel small. Then I'll shrink and shrink until there's nothing left of me and I'll disappear because I'm good at that." I finished.
"Is that what you really felt Ana?" Tobi asked sounding grim.
"That's who I am Tobias." I replied.
And nobody ever said anything until we reached the lobby.
-
"Okay is everyone ready?" Mum was saying to everyone that surrounded her as she was fixing Claire's make-up. "Where's. Tobias?"
"Here." Tobi spoke up and everyone turned to look at us.
"What happened to your dress and who bought you that gown?" Dad asked and not in a really adoring way I might add. More of just pure curiosity in his tone.
"I bought it for her." Tobi answered for me quite defensively.
"I can change if you'd like." I said sorrow and repent washed over me as I remembered the argument he and I had.
Dad was about to answer when Tobi spoke again.
"No. Don't insult me, I bought that for you. That's from me." He said sternly. I was scared right at that moment but I knew he didn't mean to scare me. I knew he wasn't mad at me. i could hear and see that he was irritated by our father.
I couldn't have that.
"Okay." I stretched my lips at him. "Don't worry dad, it's like I won't even be there." I said and then my mother finally spoke up.
"The cars are here lovelies. Let's not waste time." she ushered us out and explained who's taking who and what car they're going to be in. Mum, dad and Claire went first. Victoria followed riding solo, well of course there was Olaf. Then it was just Me, Tobi and Poppy.
As we waited for the last car I breathed out a sigh. I could see my cold breath in the glow of the evening.
"I don't think I should go. This is wrong." I saw Poppy turn her head abruptly to look at me on the corner of my eye.
"There's nothing wrong about this Ana. Don't say that."
"Don't even with me Ana." Tobi inserted.
"Okay okay sheesh..." we were quiet for a moment but it was absolutely killing me. "But wouldn't it be weird for you to bring me with you guys?! I'm a third wheel!"
"Oh I threesome me likey." a voice said from behind us. We all turned to look and found Marcus Mercer walking towards us, hands in his pockets, his hair beautifully slick and looking dangerously attractive. DANGEROUS. "Can I join the party?" he smiled.
I scowled and the only words that came out of my mouth was...
"Are you following me?"
Seemed like we all were thinking that because it came out of all of our mouths in timing. Weird.
"No." he replied to no one in particular. "I do have to say. The universe is telling us something..." he stood beside me and looked up at the night sky.
"Me?" all three of us asked. This was getting way bizarre.
"You girls know this jackass?" Tobi asked dumbfounded and we all turned to him abruptly.
"Yeah..." I replied.
"I-uh-nooooo pssssh" Poppy replied.
"She totally knows me." Marcus inserted and waved Poppy off. "Ya'll know me."
"You know this guy?" I asked Tobi without looking at Marcus and pointed my thumb at him.
"Yeah. I'm his roommate in boarding school." Marcus answered for him and that made me glance at him.
"Was. Was. He dropped out." Tobi added.
"Dropped out is such a strong term Rose. I prefer, 'on a very long semestral break'" Marcus beamed and Poppy rolled her eyes in annoyance. She totally knows this guy. Question is...how?
"How'd you know Ana?" Tobi slipped and I shot him an alarmed look without Marcus noticing.
"Ana?" Marcus asked, and Poppy cut in to save the day.
"My name... is uh Ana." she said.
"Oh... Is Ana your date Rose?" Marcus leered at Poppy then winked flirtatiously. She scowled and Tobi shot daggers at him.
"Yeah Ana's my date." Tobi says.
"What's your name?" Marcus turns to me and flashes me an almost friendly looking smile.
"Iris..." I slowly replied as if I didn't seem to trust him by knowing my name. But really, it's not like it's my real name right? Plus he sounds like a really nice guy.. if you look past the tattoos and the piercings God knows where and the attitude.
He smiled and nodded and pulled a cigarette out of his pocket. He mumbled a "Finally." as he inserted the cig between his lips and lifted his hands to light it up.
"Finally?..." I repeated.
Before he could answer, our ride was before us four.
"Finally!" Tobi rejoiced. "Come on Ana!" he was already opening the door and Poppy slid in. I was about to take a step when I saw Marcus eyes-wide thinking that I would slip away touch my shoulder. "Mercer!"
"Will you be my date to the ball? My relatives are going to be there and you know family reuinions..." I don't.
"What?" Tobi and I said in unison. Both of us in surprise.
Marcus rolled his eyes and cleared his throat before throwing the cig on the ground and putting it out. "Oh Marcus, what ever happened to you? Dropping out of school? All those filthy tattoos? You couldn't even get a decent girlfriend!" he reinacted I assume were his relatives. I couldn't help but smile.
"Okay." I chuckled.
"Really?" his face lit up but I was honestly more surprised.
"Really?!" Tobi asked in horror.
"Can we just go?" Poppy's head popped out of the door and a car from behind our limo beeped it's horn so loud that Tobi had no choice but to get in without me.
"Marcus. I'm coming for you." he mumbled before they went away.
"We're very close." he said to me when they left. He lifted his hand up to me so I took it but instead of shaking he just kissed it. Just like he did before. "Marc. Our chariot awaits." he gestured for the next limo. Same one with the extremely loud horn.
"No wonder my brother loves you." I smile. He laughed. I'm stunned.
-
[James]
I shook hands with the British Primeminister as he greeted us. I smiled and nodded a thank you. This was of course my usual routine since half an hour ago and for the rest of the night.
The only thing that kept me awake was me trying NOT to yawn in front of everyone.
"Darling how are you?" my mother came up to me and touched my arm. I smiled and nodded like the robot everyone thinks that I am.
"How are you and you nod?" my sister Lena joined in and raised a brow at me.
"Well then it shouldn't take a scientist to know that I'm not alright then.." I smiled.
"Go mum, I'll take care of him." Lena says and held onto me. Our mother nodded and left to attend with her guests.
"I cannot believe that you're grounded. That's the funniest thing on earth." Lena whispered and smiled at the passing guests.
"Meh." I shrugged and did the same thing. A young man not older than 23 came up to us and smiled. We shook hands and he just laughed cockily.
"Dude this is the corniest shit in the world." he took of his mask and so did I after seeing his face.
"Shut up Marcus." I snapped. With him was a girl. She was short, like Lena and looking kind of anxious so I opened my mouth to speak to her but Lena had said the first sentence.
"Why are you dating my twat of a cousin?" she joked. Yes we were born with royal blood but we do curse and crack inappropriate jokes. Just careful not to have anyone hear us. "I'm Lena by the way!"
"Iris. Does this mean Marcus is royal too?" the girl asked and smiled nervously. "And we're not dating."
"No, I'm on the peasant side." Marc chuckled. "Anywhooo, we're going to mingle with the president of Argentina before my mum shits on this shindig."
"I saw her. You're so mean to your mum." I said.
"And you're mean to everyone. You nearly killed the servants with your horse! Who rides a horse inside their home? Bad people James. Bad people."
"Take it easy on him Marcus." Lena detached herself from me and patted Marc. "If anyone asks I'm not in my room watching Frozen. Nice to meet you Iris! You're welcome to join me, just knock okay?" she smiles and then leaves.
"Is that Primeminister Cameron?!" Marc gasps and pulls the girl, Iris, along. I caught a glimpse of her giving me a small smile before pulling away.
A waiter passed in front of me with drinks so I took one and left the room. A birthday like any.
-
[Ana]
"Hey Marc, I think I'll go with my friend Poppy now." I said and we stopped walking.
"Why?" he pouted. Oh wow. "Who's Poppy?" he raised a brow at me and then I remembered we got our names mixed up earlier.
"Poppy is Ana's first name." I smiled sheepishly. "And I think I just spotted her."
"Awww." he whined. "Okay. But I thought you wanted to find out why I said "Finally" earlier..."
"Finally?" finally? Oh! Right. "Oh! Right. Well I guess that can wait another day."
"Are you asking me out on a date?" he poked me and grinned cheekily.
"Umm noooo." I laughed. "I'll uh see you around." I said before walking away. I didn't dare look back remembering the dirty looks Tobi shoots him and the way Alex talked about him and I don't know. That boy, Marcus, confuses me. I feel like running before getting in too deep. He is charming after all.
A waitress offered me something to eat and so I took 5, why not. It's not illegal, right? I was pretty much stress eating in a ball right there. I was wearing a mask anyway so from that point I didn't give a damn. So there I was minding my own business wating my....shrimp and then...
"Where'd you get that shrimp?" I turned to look who was randomly talking to me and found that he was a young man. He was well dressed, had strong features, but honestly he looked like a fish out of water. Just like me.
"From some girl that walked by. Why?" I smiled awkwardly.
"All I got were baked clams of some sort and they're just so garlic-y... I don't know how to put it."
"You mean they suck."
"Yeah!" he chuckles revealing a perfect set of teeth. "Sorry, you must think I'm weird for just talking to you and, I just don't know what to do."
"Not at all. What do you mean?" I asked taking a bite of my third.
"This is my first event ever since I was declared the missing prince of fucking Russia. But you know Russia's still a democratic country.." he laughed nervously. I on the other hand nearly spit out the chewed shrimp.
"When was this?!" I asked stunned. She lifted a finger to his lips to shush me.
"We're about to tell the world in a month's time." he replied.
"You actually trust me? Why?!" I grinned anxiously.
"Because you remind me of... well me and my God am I a very trusted person." he declares proudly.
"Just by looking at me?"
"I mean..yeah? I don't know. You're eating five shrimps like you've never eaten before in a ball. That's me!" he laughed.
"Oh.." I looked down and smiled. "I really like shrimp."
"I do too." he smiled. I looked at him and in that minute I decided that I liked this guy as much as I like shrimp.
"I'm Ana." I offered him a hand. I did not slip nor hesitated. I meant to introduce myself as Ana.
"I'm Seth. I was Seth but then I was Demetri, no wait, I was Demetri before Seth and then Demetri again but I guess I don't want to be Demetri yet because I like being Seth but then I am Demetri originally...sorry."
"Sorry to ask but were you adopted?"
"Just foster homes. Some people found me in the video store I worked in back in New Jersey." he smiled.
"Sorry."
"It's no problem." he chuckled. "I think I'm going to look for those shrimps." I must've said the most offending thing ever. GREAT!
"It was nice meeting you Seth." I said and waved.
"It was very nice meeting you Ana." he smiled and walked away.
