Chapter 4

Recap: Leah loses her temper and runs off. She remembers when Luke left. Emily finally finds out who Luke is and she loses her temper. Lionel finally enters the picture as he returns from a quest.

Leah*

I opened my eyes to see that I was still in the tree from earlier. I stretched my arms and legs the best I could without falling out of the tree. That was I heard the sound of shuffling pages coming from my journal as it slipped from my lap and fell out of the tree and towards the ground. I made a mad grab for it but missed. Everything was in slow motion as I lost my footing and started to fall towards the ground as my screams filled the air.

Lionel*

I was walking around the woods looking for Leah. The other kids really needed to lay off her; it wasn’t her fault that Luke left even though she blamed herself for it. My thoughts were interrupted when something hit my head.

“Ow!” I rubbed my head and picked up the thing that hit my head. When I got a closer look it was what looked like a journal, correction it was Leah’s journal. Before I could take another step though someone screaming caught my attention and when I looked up I saw that it was Leah falling. “Whoa I got ya,” I said as she fell into me and we both went to the ground. She looked up and saw that I was the one who had caught her. She quickly looked away.

Leah*

I finally ran into someone sending them and myself to the ground. I looked and saw that it was Lionel. “Whoa I got you”

~Oh just great~ the heat rose to my cheeks and I looked away trying to hide my blush. I had always liked Lionel ever since I met him. I got up off of him and helped him up off the ground. He handed me my journal and we just stood there.

“Come on Chiron needs to talk to you”

“Oh great it’s probably about what happened at the meeting”

“What happened at the meeting?” I explained what happened earlier with Michael.

“And so I ran off to cool off. I also fell asleep; when I woke up my journal fell and then you know the rest.” At first Lionel was silent and then he shocked me by laughing, laughing.

~How could he be laughing when I could have very well killed Michael if I hadn’t been stopped~

“You’re laughing?”

“Yea only because I know that Michael has a big mouth on him and knew that one day he would cross paths with the wrong person”

“Well he crossed my path twice today,” I said looking at Lionel who had a look of shock on his face.

“Whoa,” he said and I nodded my head

“Yea, anyway how was your quest?” I asked him as we started making our way back to the camp

“It went good, well obviously since I returned without many scratches on me”

“That’s good”

“Yea so anyway why did everyone look so sad?”

“Oh…Um well, while you were gone Chiron sent Percy and Beckendorf on a mission to try and destroy Luke’s ship and well it didn’t end well on our part. The ship blew up yes but Beckendorf had to sacrifice himself in order to do that.” Lionel said nothing he just wrapped his arm around my shoulder, the rest of the walk to the big house where Chiron was waiting for me.
