Crystal's POV:

I jumped up and hugged my best friend in the hospital bed with tears rushing down my face.

"I missed you too Crystal." She said laughing.

I can't believe that she's awake after three weeks, I was afraid that she wouldn't wake up.

3 weeks earlier...

There was so much commotion when KC left the class, teachers were running around and kids were screaming like maniacs. I felt tears sliding down my cheeks and I laid my head down on my desk letting my tears pool onto the desk making puddles. I felt someone sit next to me and put their hand my back rubbing it.

"I know she's your friend." Cam said.

I looked up at him letting my tears still slide down my face.

"That's not the point Cameron!! SHE'S PUTTING HER LIFE IN RISK TO SAVE ALL OF US!!" I shouted clenching my fists wanting to punch him in the face.

"I know..." He trailed off.

"No you don't." I snapped standing up to look out the window to see police cars pulling up.

"Crystal, we can't leave the school."

"I don't care, I'm going out to talk to them to tell them exactly what happened so I can go to KC's house to comfort her mother." I snapped stomping to my locker to get my things, then I went to her locker to get her bag and keys.

"Crystal!" Cam shouted trying to catch up to me.

I didn't care what he wanted to say, I just wanted my new best friend back. She's like the sister I never had. I walked out with two bags on my back and walked right up to one of the police officers.

"Young lady, we need you to go back into the school."

"I'm sorry, but I can't do that. My best friend was kidnaped and I need to be there for her mother because I'm all she has. So, ask me any questions you want so I can be there for my best friends mother." I said to the officers making them look shocked.

"Alright, fine." The officer said while his partner looked at him like he was crazy.

So, after about fifteen minutes of questioning I was speeding down the roads to KC's house with two police cars escorting me. Once I pulled into KC's driveway I jumped out of the car and ran to the front door and started banging my fist on it.

"Crystal? What are you doing out of school so early? Where's KC?" KC's mom asked.

"Ma'am, is it okay that we come in?" The two officers asked when they stepped behind me.

"Of course." She said nodding her head looking around as if she was looking for KC.

We all went into the house and the two men told Mrs. Right what happened at school today making her cry.

"I want my baby back!" She wailed as I sat next to her rubbing her back. I let all of my tears out earlier, not it was my turn to be strong.

"We'll find her." The officers said standing up and walked out of the room.

"Why? I moved so this wouldn't happen!" KC's mom wailed putting her head in her hands.

"What do you mean?" I asked still rubbing her back.

"I think I know who took KC." She said, voice turning cold.

"Who?!? I can go and get the po-pos to come back!" I shouted running to the door.

"No." The way she said it made me stop in my tracks and turn slowly to face her.

"No?" I asked, she nodded her head and patted the spot next to her. I slowly walked over to the couch and sat down.

"I think it's KC's biological father. A few weeks before KC and I moved here I got a call from an unknown number, and whoever called left me a message saying that they're going to take KC back. I knew exactly who it was even if it had a voice box on it to change his voice."

"What's so bad about KC's father?" I asked realizing that I knew more about KC's father than she did.

"He isn't the greatest of men in the world. He may lead one of the greatest of companies in the world, but he's a monster."

"What do you mean?" I asked, I'm not trying to be nosey, I just want to know what happened to my best friend.

"I'll explain more to you when my daughter is found." She said sadly.

"I understand." I said nodding, "Would you like a glass of water?"

"Yes please, thank you."

"Mhmm." I stood up and walked into the kitchen and grabbed a glass filling it with water. I walked back and handed her the frosted glass of water and sat down next to her putting my head in my hands groaning.

"I know this is hard on you." She told me leaning into me.

"You know what we could do?" I asked her.

"Hmm?"

"We could set up KC's drawings in her room! She told me she wanted to do but never had the chance to!" I said excitedly jumping up. Her mom nodded limply and stood up with me. So for the next 5 hours we put KC's painting up around her room and the house. We walked into the kitchen to eat some food, but I made KC's mom sit down and told her that I would make food for us.

"Thank you Crystal." She told me gratefully as I handed her a bowl of Ramen Noodles.

"I know it's not a giant fancy steak, but it's still good." I told her smiling.

After we both finished our food I took both of our bowls to the kitchen and started washing them. There was a knock at the door making me stop washing dishes and walk out of the kitchen to the front room and saw KC's mom talking to an officer. I watched as her arm came to her mouth and she leaned on the wall for support.

"Is everything all right here?" I asked walking up to help her mom.

"They found KC."

"But?"

"But sh-" Mrs. Right started, before her sobs made it impossible to understand what else she was going to say.

"She's barely breathing." Officer McGall said shaking his head.

"What do you mean she's barely breathing?!" I practically shouted.

"She has a bullet wound and lost a lot of blood due to a huge chunk of glass in her stomach."

"When can we see her?" I asked crossing my arms over my chest.

"We can leave now." He said.

With that we bolted out of the house and to the car to get to the hospital. When we got there we were escorted to the waiting room and I saw the person I least expected to see here.

"Grayson?" I asked as I walked up to him. He looked at me with stitches across his forehead.

"Hey." His voice horse like he's been yelling for a while.

"What's going on?"

"KC is in surgery because the glass was so far in that is cut through a major organ."

"Do you know when she'll get out?" I asked.

"No."

"Mrs. Right."

"Yes?" KC's mom said standing up.

I stood up eager to know what was going on.

"KC just got out of surgery."

"What room?"

"372, but only family is allowed to enter."

"Then they can come in too, they're the only family she has other than me."

"Okay." The nurse said as she lead us to KC's room.

"Is there anything else we need to know?" I asked. I knew the nurse was hiding something.

"KC is in a coma."
