Kids POV

It was my first memory. I can still remember it clearly to this very day. I remember the breeze and the smell of freshly cut grass. I was sitting in a sandbox with my babysitter behind me watching me play. I had been dirty and covered in sand. I was making a castle when I suddenly heard a quiet giggle come from my right side. I looked to my right and I saw a little girl with sandy blonde hair trying to crawl on a tall figure. Her hair was in perfect piggytails and she was wearing a pink and white dress. She had the happiest smile on her face and a smile that could make a freezing man in Antarctica feel warm. I watched as she tried to climb on the tall figure. It was a man wearing a dark suit and had red hair. He seemed to not notice her as the man gazed at some girl. I try getting up to see her face more clearly but I slip and face plant into the wet sand next to me. I start silently crying like the child I was and my babysitter has picked me up. Then I stop crying the second she looked at me. She looks at me and I can see her big, bright eyes. I tried getting down from my babysitter and she set me down gently as that little girl walks tword my babysitter and I. I reach out to shake her hand, my gentlemanly ways getting the best of me. She looks at my hand with a blank stare for a moment or two then she lightly grabs my hand, flashing a pristine smile at me that took my breath away. The girl spoke softly,"My name's Maka Albarn." I shyly smirked at her and I noded, "I am Death The Kid. Its nice to meet you." The tall figure finally notices Maka and smiles down at us. He says,"Well, hello there. I'm Maka's father Spirit Albarn." I smile up at him and nod. "I am Death The Kid." I look back at Maka and my babysitter talks to Spirit as I talk to Maka. "Would you like to play with me Maka?" She nods at me and runs taped the swings. We swing for what seemed like a couple of seconds but had been a couple hours. My babysitter came back with Spirt and told me we have to go soon. I helped Maka off her swing and held out my hand. "I hope we can be great friends. Promise we'll see eachother again?"
She shakes my hand and says in a light voice,"Of course. Can I have your number?" My babysitter hands me a card and I giver her the card with my house phone number on it. "Here. This is my house phone number. Call me whenever you need me." She smiles and pulls me into a nice and gentle hug. "Thank you for being my friend. Bye!" She then scampered off with spirit and I watched my first friend leave.
From that day forward we talked every day. She got to stay over sometimes and her father signed her up for my school. We walked to school together and I learned to protect her. Once we became teenagers, though, that all changed. She had gotten a partner named Soul "Eater" Evans. She had slowly stopped walking with me and hanging out with me. Then, we barely talked. She had forgotten about me and I thought of her every day. She was my best friend, but now I'm not so sure.
