It's Been A While

"No way... " I whisper closing my eyes and opening them again.
I guess my eyes aren't deceiving me.
"Sakiko, you know Haruhi?" The twins ask at the same time.
"I mean I did haha" I chuckle and turn around facing my back towards Haruhi. It's been years since we've spoken and I wouldn't know what to say...
Last time we spoke it was about 6 years ago, we used to hang out at the same hospital when our parents were sick. After her mom passed we hadn't really spoken anymore, and she told me she was moving.
Moved she did, her mom had gotten more sick and our hospital... Well it wasn't the best.
Whenever haruhi left I was alone, I didn't have any friends because I was too focused on school and helping take care of the family.
Haruhi used to come over and help me clean and cook, and we had fun while doing it. She never tried to contact me after she disappeared, though I tried calling her everyday for almost a year.
She ignored me.
But that's the past, and I can't blame her, her mom was sick and she needed to take care of her family.
Who would've guessed we'd end up in the same city and go to the same school all over again?
"Yeah..." Haruhi sighs and turns around and our backs are facing each other's with the twins in between us.
"Awkward" Hikaru mumbles.
"Well, we'll be back at the host club in a few minutes." Kaoru says as the twins put their hands on my back as if they were pushing me away.
As we walk down the hall I glance behind me to see Haruhi. I shouldn't have looked back because she's facing us and we made eye contact. She looks like she's going to cry.
I shake my head and look forward, just keep walking.
Finally we get to the office, Hikaru and Kaoru haven't said a word the whole walk here.
"I already know where the uniforms are, so I'll go get yours." Hikaru says and walks into a door behind the front desk.
"I know where the school books are, so I'll get those." Kaoru says and follows behind his brother.
I just nod and stare out of the big window in front of the desk, showing off a nice view of the garden.
As I walk over to the window I get a better view of the water fountain and all the flowers, I start to see two people come into sight.
To my surprise it's Kyoya, and what looks like another girl.
It's probably his girlfriend, the way she's blushing and him laughing.
I watch them as they walk over to a bench and sit down, immediately the girl bows her head and says something blushing even more she hands him a letter.
Huh they aren't dating then, this is a love confession, she's really pretty, and looks nice. Well I think they'd make a good couple from what I can see.
But this isn't my business, I look away and walk back over to the front desk just as Hikaru and Kaoru walk out out Hikaru holding a yellow dress on a hanger and covered with plastic protection. He was also holding other folded things in his other hand, like socks and such.
Kaoru behind him holding a big stack of books. Wow... This is going to be a fun walk home.
"I'll find a bag." Hikaru laughs and reaches under the desk and pulls out a bag made out of cloth with the Ouran symbol embroidered on it.
"Thanks you guys." I sigh as Kaoru put the books in the bag before Hikaru puts the folded clothing in the bag.
"It's probably best you carry this separately so it doesn't get squished and wrinkled in the bag." Hikaru says holding up the dress, he's right.
"Thanks Hikaru." I smile and take the dress then Kaoru hands me the bag and I throw it over my shoulder and sigh.
"Well I guess I'll see you guys tomorrow, I'll have to get here early to get my classes and find my way around here." I let out with a huff.
"Do you have a cell phone?" Kaoru asks holding up his phone to my face.
"Uh yeah." I say reaching for my pocket.
"Here just type your number in my phone." He says handing it to me with a empty contact profile for me to set up. I nod my head and type my name and number in and press "save".
"If you get lost or need help finding your way around just call us." Kaoru says and puts his phone back in his pocket.
" Thanks. " I say smiling "I appreciate it" I add happily.
"Appreciate what?" I hear someone behind me say suddenly.
I turn around and see Kyoya standing there.
"Are you trying to give me a heart attack?!" I say jumping back a little.
"Mmm possibly." Kyoya says smirking. I glare at him a sigh.
"Anyway, I'm off, Obachan needs help cooking tonight. Thanks again you two." I turn away from Kyoya to thank the twins then walk away.
"See ya!" I hear the twins yell in unison as I leave.
When I get outside I notice a rain cloud nearby, hopefully I'll get home before it hits. Last thing I want to do is get this dress wet.
I walk quickly past the school hates and glance at my old school as I pass by it.
"Good riddance." I sigh and stare at the sidewalk as I continue to walk, I start to see dark spots appear on the ground, then water started hitting my face. "Craaap" I huff and start running. I'm not going to make it to the house in time without getting the dress wet.
I quickly run down the street and into the grocery store. Now what? I can't go into the store if I'm not going to buy anything, I'm just using the roof for cover from the rain. I look over beside the automatic doors and see a bench and a vending machine.
Sounds good. I walk over and set my stuff on the bench, now the rain is pouring. I made it just in time, I walk over to the vending machine and pick out a lemonade.
Out comes a yellow soda can with a lemonade label on it.
Walking back over to the bench I crack open the fizzy beverage as it lets out a hiss.
Sipping it slowly as I wait for the rain to die down.
