You took a long shower to get rid of the soda, the dirt, and the blood after you took out your band aids. After some time, you found yourself resting your head on the cold tile."Promise me that no matter what happens, no matter how bad things get, you will not go back to your old life."
Grandma's voice was the only thing you heard. Before she left, you walked out on her in bad terms. It was a sorrow feeling to know that she was never coming back and you could never tell her how much you really appreciated her.
As you walked out of the shower, you dried yourself off and did your hygiene and makeup. If you were going to stay, you had to do what they said. It was the only way.
"... your friends will all go to adoption centers where they will have a 1 out of 10 chance to get adopted by another family, and those people will come for them to get to you."
You wanted to hit yourself in the head until you couldn't hear your stupid conscience anymore. If there was anything you could do right now for those five people, it was to stay strong. You don't know what was going on, but you knew it wasn't over.
Your old clothes sat on the counter. The bandana was in the pocket of the hoodie and when you saw those things before you, you snapped. Grabbing them, you tossed them in the trash along with the shoes.
You weren't gonna need them anymore.
You put on some sweatpants and a tank top. This was a new look. Usually you'd go for the baggy shirts not a top, but you weren't in Compton anymore. And you could wear whatever you wanted.
It was different, it was new, but for the first time in your entire life as you laid your eyes upon your reflection in the mirror, you didn't see the blood shot eyes or the angry old (Y/N) you were before.
You felt different. You felt free.
At dinner, all the boys sat down wearing their new clothes as well. They were all washed up and Hector even removed his lip piercing.
"What is this?" Shrimp asked stabbing some weird looking bowl of vegetables.
"That's kimchi. A Korean delicacy." answered Hyerin.
"And what's that?" the boy asked pointing at lettuce.
"That's... lettuce." Jaehwa said slowly.
"Nice,"
"You eat it like this:" Hyerin grabbed a lettuce leaf and used her chopsticks to grab a piece of meat. She made a wrap of it and then shoved it in her mouth.
"Oh, like a burrito." Hector said in a bit of awe. "Why didn't you just say so, fam?" he copied her actions and afterwards you all did as well.
The closest thing you've eaten to "Asian food" is Panda Express. Even then, you didn't realize there was more to this type of food than just fried rice and chow mein noodles.
Everyone goofed around for a while. Even you cracked a smile at the boy's jokes. You've never seen Hector be so calm before. Shrimp was getting along with the kids and Mario wasn't as quiet as before. As for Alex, you looked over to him and he just stared at his food blankly.
"We probably should've told you this sooner, but..." Hyerin's nervous voice caught your attention. "You all start school tomorrow—"
The table erupted with a big "What?!". The couple flinched a bit at the rise of your voices.
"You will wake up at seven thirty in the morning. School starts at nine so that would give you all enough time to get ready in the morning." explained Jaehwa.
