"Take out your homework from last night!" Mr. Shin shouted to the class before disappearing in the classroom's storage room to prepare his morning coffee. The classroom now had the pungent smell of coffee beans and vanilla scented air freshener. And the constant groans of annoyance from the students was heard from all around.
Jungkook sat in his desk diligently copying down the catalyst for the day. His head flicking back and forth between the whiteboard and his paper. His homework already placed on the corner of the desk for the teacher to collect.
"Jungkook," a baritone voice spoke beside the boy. Jungkook looked up and saw Taehyung running late. His brown hair disheveled, eyelids still a bit droopy, his shirt wasn't completely buttoned up, and he had his tie and binder in his hands. "Do you have the homework from last night?" he asked taking his seat quickly before the teacher came back.
It was somewhat of a typical move that Taehyung was late to class. He never really cared about his constant tardies until the teacher decided to give him strikes. Third strike, and Taehyung had to clean the school bathrooms for a week.
"Why can't you do your own homework for once?" Jungkook whined closing his binder and clicking his pen shut.
"Okay, this time, I actually had a reason to be late." he defended taking rummaging through his bag. He looked for the least blunt pencil in his bag and turned back to his friend.
"Like always," Jungkook rolled his eyes. Suddenly, he felt a hand hit the back of his head, making him lurch forward a bit. "Ow! What was that for?!" he asked running his nape.
"Respect your hyung." was all Taehyung said before reaching over to Jungkook's desk and grabbing his homework.
Jungkook sighed and slightly frowned, not being able to talk back nor complain about his mistreatment.
"Who finished the homework?" Mr. Shin placed his hot cup of coffee down on his desk. No one responded, leaving the room in pure silence except for a small cough in the back. Jungkook slowly raised his hand in the air, catching his teacher's attention. "Way to be on top of things, Jungkook." Shin smiled proudly.
Jungkook only nodded and went back to writing notes.
"The rest of you lazy hippos can—" Shin was cut off when the door opened and in walked a lady dressed in with a smile on her wrinkled face.
Her black low heels clacked against the tile and all the students rose from their seats as a sign of respect o their principal, Mrs. Choi. Shin also bowed his head with his students.
"Good morning, everyone." she said to the class.
"Good morning, Principal Choi." the class chorused.
"What brings you here, Mrs. Choi?" Shin asked with a smile.
"I received word that someone broke the coffee machine in the teachers lounge because they accidentally poured in sand to the machine." Choi said raising her voice at him.
"I wonder who...?" Shin trailed off slowly then scratching the back of his head sheepishly.
Choi turned to the class, changing her expression and smiling.
"But that's only one of the reasons I'm here." she began, "Today, five new student from the foreign exchange program have been transferred to this school from the States."
