I glance over at the clock. Praise the Lord. Its 9:00 AM. I am exhausted from my lack of sleep last night, but getting out of bed sounds more tempting than to continue sweating through my sheets. Sleep only came in two hour increments last night, so needless to say I'm tired .
I know Ashton surley won't be up, and honestly i dont feel like talking to him right now. He had tried to come and talk to me after my break down last night, but i had shut him out.
I contemplate what to do now tha im out of bed.If I was to read The Fault in Our Stars another time, it would make four in the last three days. Food doesn't really sound appealing ,so I go and sit on the couch.
I love the Irwins couch, its a soft fabric that you can sink into giving the affect of a cocoon . In my living room sits a modern leather blob that gives you a butt cramp after ten minutes of being on it. It really is the little things that add up and make me want to shove my life out a window.
I hear the front door open and Miss Irwin steps through, sweat glistening on her forehead.
"Hello Magdelena. How did you sleep?" Its like she knew exactly what not to ask.
"Fine, I guess." Just had to relive the most traumatic experience in my life, you know,the usual.
"You guess?" She raises her eyebrow.
"Yup," I shift uncomfortably rubbing my knees,"how was work?" I desperately try to change the subject.
"Come on now , let's not waste out breath . I'm sure you wouldn't want to hear just as much as I don't want to tell it." She chirps with laughter . "I'm going to go get some sleep. Damn night shift." I hear her mutter to no on in particular. I'm thankful she doesn't push anything.
. I flip through the morning tv . It's all news and talk shows. My frown deepens and i make off tv and it now appears black with a click of a button. I have to push myself up from the plushy cushions that I am practically being held captive in.
At a complete loss of what to do I check my calendar on the phone . It makes me angry when people say Winter break is fun. I've done nothing. Even though it's only the second day, I have a feeling the rest of the month will pan out like this.
Christmas is coming up in a few weeks .... Wait , oh my god , CHRISTMAS is coming up in a few weeks! More importantly , I am completely unprepared ! It doesnt seem like it ,but so much has been happening latley that the huge holiday just sprung up on me.
I scavenge for a scrap of paper and scrawl a note to Ashton. I'm not sure why I even am ,considering he fails to tell me anything . Just as I'm about to crumple the paper I reconsider. I need to stop acting childish.
I pull out my wallet that contains the money I've managed to save the past year ,that I set said for gifts. I remember to put my drivers permit in the license spot.
I step into my jeans shorts and pair it with a green crop top and flip flops. I pull a rain jacket out of my closet because the winter can be quiet unpredictable at times.
I pull onto the main road and make sure to drive extra carful to avoid confrontation with a cop. If they saw me driving with a permit and no parent present I would literally die from fright at what my mother would do, before she could kill me herself.
I make sure to find a parking space near the entrance which isn't hard to do since it's only 9:40 on a Saturday. I make a list on my phone of who I need to buy gift for : Ashton, his sister and brother, miss irwin , mom, dad, Selene and niece . The list is pitiful , but ever one at my school is freaking annoying and over dramatic anyway so why would I bother trying to earn their friend ship.
I feel cool air blow against my hot skin when I enter the mall. My first stop is Brookstone. I find a hand held back massager for my dad. This will give him no room to complain anymore.
Next I find a store in the corner called Bubbles. It looks like it doesn't get much business and I can tell why. All it sells is organic soaps. The shop is Weird ,boring, and an has overbearing scent, just like my mother. If I had a choice to not get her a present I would but my father would have a field day with me. So i grudgingly pick a cucumber infused bath scrub that smells like dirt .
When I check the time I've managed to kill and hour and a half. It's 11:00 and I still haven't eaten all day and I notice a sharp pain in my stomach . I hear a loud gurgle that sounds like a monster attacking my insides. The food court is practically empty so I buy a Cinnabon and take a break from shopping.
When I'm done I wipe the glaze of my legs and stand to find Gap . I know Baby gap is always somehow connected to it ,so I will only have to make one trip for my sister and nieces .
I find a pink chiffon onsie for Felicity with a matching set of booties. I decide to splurge and get a teddy bear. Even though I have never seen her in person I love her so much. For Selene it won't be so easy. She had a rough few years so I'm not sure what she likes now, with the few times we text .
Lately I've seen shes been wearing cardigans on Facebook. So I go into the Gap and purchase a cream sweater and a patterned scarf .It doesn't scremSELENE at all ,but i can tell shes changed since the birth of her second child.I go into a toy store and buy a stuffed dog for ashton sister and Cameron, my other niece. (I cant wait to meet her one day. She seems lovley but i've been ripped of the priveledge of seeing my sisters first daughet due to my mothers cruelty. Does she really believe I would do anything like my sister. I love my sister and i am in no way emabaressed by her, but i could never even imagine myself doing something like that.) I pick up some video games for Ashtons brothers. No matter how long I've know them I have no idea what to buy them so I decide to play it safe .
Lastly I have Ashton. I stroll into the music shop and look at some head phones so he doesn't have to listen to his blaring music out loud anymore. I read the signs and see one that reads "sale ". I go over to that isle with the head set in hand and find multiple cameras.
There are Nikons, Kodaks , Sonys , pretty much every top of the line camera there is. Then it's like someone turned on a switch and a light bulb went off in my head . Ashton just joined in a youtube based band. I've seen s some off the videos and the quality is just plain terrible. I see I still have a large amount of cash left and the cameras are on a huge before Christmas sale. I find a Nikon that's hand held but still good quality. He's gonna be so excited.
While I'm in line to check out I see a guitar pick with batman on it. it's in the clearance bin and I know it'll just add to the great gift . I think i can recall him saying how he's always wanted something silly like this. I hand the chasier the money. It was mor than i expected ,but hes worth it.
( omg guys i have 85 readers. That doesnt sound like a lot but i seriously didnt except this story to get more than like twenty reads. I also realized all Ashton's sibling are younger than him so if you want to go to the beggining of the story and read about them you can. You really dont need to because they part were he talked about his siblings wasnt big. Thanks! I also promise the story is about to get more intersting!)
