Martyn had just left with Mum and Dad. They were going into town and then out for a meal. I told them I'd rather stay home because I wasn't feeling too well, and that I'd probably be asleep when they got back, but if course that was a lie. I texted Dan to let him know they'd gone and that he could come round any time. About an hour later, Dan arrived.
"Never seen the inside of this house before" Dan laughed
"Sorry" I said, jokingly "Do you want a brew?"
"Oh Erm, yes please"
"Tea, coffee or hot chocolate?"
"Coffee, one sugar please"
I returned with our coffees a few minutes later, putting mine on the table and handing Dan his.
"Do you wanna watch a movie or something?" I asked
"Yeah" he smiled "What do you want to watch?"
"I don't mind, you can pick" I said, pointing at the DVD cabinet.
Dan walked over and I saw his eyes flick through the 100s of DVDs we had. A few minutes later, Dan walked back with 'The Happening' and 'Shaun of the Dead'.
"I'll watch either of these" he said
"Have you ever seen The Happening?" I asked
"No, but it sounded good"
"Let's watch that then" I said, picking up the disc and inserting into the DVD player.

About halfway through the movie, I glanced over at Dan to see he looked scared, it was a horror movie after all. I grabbed his hand and smiled at him. I don't think he realised that I could see him as he smiled to himself. By the time the movie ended, it was about 9:45pm. I was expecting everyone to get back around 10pm and Dan knew this. He looked at his phone and muttered
"Your parents will be back soon"
"I know. You can stay the night if you want. If we're quiet, no one will know"
"Yeah, I'd like that" He smiled and almost at the same time, we stood up and I led him to my room.
