Is it right for me to feel this way?
As an officer of the law,
His duty is to serve and protect,
Am I selfish to want him to stay safe
During times of danger?
To want him to stay by my side,
To not answer the calls
That only bring death and destruction
To his doorstep.
Why must the one I love be so selfless
Why must he risk everything for strangers
Why does his side of the bed remain so cold
Why do I deserve such a brave man
I feel the urge to scream
Whenever he leaves me to save them
I cry hot tears of relief
When he finally returns to my arms.
His hands are gentle on my face
As he wipes away my tears
And holds me in his tight embrace
And the pain becomes worth it
When his lips press against mine
And this feels so right
To be in love with him
