Falling

Heat consumed the jungle with its fiery embrace. Black smoke filled the air leaving the creatures that resided in the jungle to flee.

Jihara moved quickly with reptilian grace, running from the fire that had engulfed the jungle. Fire surrounded Jihara slowly surrounding her as she moved through the jungle.
Ash filled the air, as well as the screams of the unfortunate beings that had been caught in the burning fire.

Jihara's muscles burned, as she weaves her way through the burning jungle.

Need to get away, find a water source. These thoughts raced through Jihara's mind as she jumped over a burning tree.
Footsteps could be heard, over the crackling of the toxic air. Jihara's head snapped towards the sound only to find a herd of giant parasaurolophus racing by her side, desperate to escape the fire's grasp.

Jihara snapped her jaw as one of the huge dinosaurs got close. The dinosaur quickly pushed back into the herd, after seeing Jihara's dangerous teeth.

Trees fell behind the group, causing the heat to rise. Jihara picked up speed, desperate to escape the fire's clutches and not wanting to die with the herd of parasaurolophus.

Jihara's claws tore at the ashy ground desperately trying to get away from the heat. Taking Jihara further into the unknown territory of the vast jungle and leaving the parasaurolophus herd in the dust.

Just when the ground hardened and turned to rock, Jihara pulled to a stop.
There was no more ground to run on, only air. For right in front of Jihara was a cliff, a cliff that dropped into a vast roaring river.

Jihara looked over the edge of the cliff in her raptor form. It was risky, too risky, even if she were to attempt it in her raptor form, half way and change into her human one the next.
But as Jihara stared at the jungle behind her she realized she had no choice.

The fire was crawling dangerously close to where Jihara stood and the fire had already eaten away at the remaining exits Jihara could of taken.

Jihara sighed to herself and rebuilt her determination. She would have to jump and hope she wouldn't pass out when she hit the water in her human form, since she couldn't swim in her raptor one.

Jihara sucked air through her teeth and backed up as far as she could until her tail nearly touched the edge of the fire. Jihara clenched her muscles and leaned down into a racing position.

Let's hope I don't break my body during the fall.

With that thought, Jihara burst into a run just before the fire could catch her blue and purple tail. Jihara's feet clutched the edge of the cliff before she jumped. Sailing through the air like a great terra dactyl that was gliding towards the sun, before falling a few moments later.
