"Johnny and Kathy Briskette to child psychology."the intercom announced. We made are way through child psychology. I gazed at children with no hair, stiches all around their arms, and kids with no feet. Where has mommy taken me? More important where will I end up?
"Hi, I'm Dr. Fondont." she greeted
"Hello, Kathy Briskette" Kathy replied as she firmly shook the Dr.'s hand
"Hey, Johnny Briskette" Johnny said as he did the same
"Um, I have some of Vidia's medical documents. I want to take Vidia in to get an MRI, X-rays, and some drawn blood."Dr.Fondont explained
I started shaking. I heard blood. That meant needles. That meant band-aids. That means problems. As we waited for the MRI. Mommy undressed me in the bathroom and slipped me into my hospital gown. Little did I know that was going to be my daily attire. The lady in the white long jacket walked up to me with the smiliest smile I had ever seen. "Hi Vidia. You ready?" I nodded with a worried look on face. I layed down on a cold bed. "Now take a deep breath Vidia." I sucked in my breath like a vaccume. I saw spinning lights. My cold bed was moving back and forth. "You're all done Vidia. You can get off the bed now." That loud voice startled me I jumped up and walked out the door like a hyper speed zombie. I ran back to mommy squeezing her tightly. Dr.Fondont was obsvering my MRI and thought it was crucial to do more tests. They told my mother to take me to LAB C. "I understand Dr.Fondont."replied Kathy Briskette
My mommy had agree to some intense information. We walked over to the elevator that went sraight into LAB C. As soon as the door opened I saw people in white coats everywhere. Was it cold in here? Did the AC break? Was it snowing inside!? We stepped out of the elevator. For a second I wished I had a white coat. "Kathy and Vidia Briskette?" a white coated lady asked.
"Yes" Mommy questioned searching for the lady who spoke our names.
"Oh, please follow me to the blood draw room." There was the word blood again and there was that band-aid feeling. "Booth number 6." We made our way to booth number 6 slowly like Mommy was scared for me. "Booth number 6 Vidia go and sit down please." Mommy demanded but in a nice way. This time a nurse sat down. "Okay Vidia, Are you ready?" I nodded with a worried look on my face. She put the needle in and I screamed "YOUCH!" One tear slid down my face. Then I sat still like a zombie. dead eyed, slow, and very still. She pulled the needle out.
"Owie." I whispered
"What?" Mommy asked
"Owie!" I shouted
"Okay..?"Mommy said confused.
I said owie so mommy couldn't hear how I was really feeling. After I got my shot I got some stickers and some lollipops. I smiled for a while.
Dr.Fondont came out of LAB C behind us and was looking at my blood test sheets. She frowned and told us to go home. I have set up an appointment for you to come back tomorrow at 12:00 pm. This worried mommy. And when mommy was worried I knew I was soon going to have that same facial expression. Why were hospitals filled with sad people? I don't want to become a sad person. Sadness can be an emotion but it shouldn't become a lifestyle. We left the hospital as we were told and as I stared out the backseat window I solemnly thought that my future has started off before I was even 5 years old.
