Chapitre 40

Daniel's POV

I've been pitying myself for a few days now: laying in my bed and not exiting my room. Suddenly the most evident answer popped in my head.

-I need to talk to her. I said to my Dad with a new rose confidence. She'll understand, she is my mate after all, there is sure at least a tiny bit of affection for me in her heart. I'll ask for an other chance. I was now full of hope.

-Son, you know it won't be that easy for you'll be killed by her brother if not the Council. Dad trys to reason me, but doesn't understand my motives.

-I don't care about surviving if it's without her. I explain to him, but he doesn't seem to get it. I sigh loudly and put my head into my hands after sitting across from my dad. What I'll say next is very embarassing so I don't want him to see my face. I fell for Silver the instant I layed my eyes on her. I wasn't fully awake yet when I get down in the kitchen and there she was, looking like a little angel covered in the flour. I didn't know she was my mate or anything still the sight of her cut my breath away and I just let my heart being trapped in her big endless black eyes. I felt my heart swell at the memory when I first met my mate. The heat spreads all over my body and a dizzling feeling fills my guts every time I speak about Silver. But this time there was another feeling mixed to it: pain. The pain of being rejected and unwanted by her. I can't just accept that we won't be together. I turn to my father and look at him with pleading eyes. Please let me talk to her! I really need to see her. Dad looked at me, hesitating for a while before talking.

-I should have locked you up throught your whole childhood so we'd avoid this situation. Dad sighed. I guess it can't get any worse now, right? You have the Alpha's permission to visit your vampire mate, son. He tapped my shoulder and I left the room.

Since it was already past midnight I decided to wait until tomorrow to see her. Plus I started to feel nouseous.

Don't tell me she's at it again!

I don't know, but there is a little pain, really unpleasant all over my body, Guess I just need to sleep it over. I'll catch her tomorrow during classes, we need to make this issue clear. Hell, we didn't even talk about being mates at least once... There is so much we have to discuss and clear the situation. And I need to apologize to her, of course.

And you forgot about Riley!

Aggr yeah I forgot that dude. Heck I hate him so much for being able to be with my mate. I guess I'll just break his neck later.
With that being decided I made my way to my room to get a little sleep.

I felt like cr*p all night, so I couldn't bring myself to wake up this morning. Sam got me out my bed somehow and after a really awkward breakfast me and sis left the house. I wasn't in the state to drive so Sam drove us to school today.
Once I hopped out the car I didn't smell the sweet scent of fresh burries hit my senses like it used to. I internally growled frustrated that I couldn't spot her.
Maybe I can find her finding Riley?
The thought hit me as a sharp knife in the chest. I didn't like the idea of her with Riley, but there's nothing I can do about it... for now. I quickly swallowed the limp forming in my throat and started walking.

I didn't see my mate, nor Riley at all this morning as the feeling of longing was the only reminder of her.
What is she doing right now? Is she thinking about me? Or maybe about.. Riley..

Right at that moment the teacher enters our homeroom class and seeming a bit sorrow. She stands infront of the microphone and clears her throat.

-Can I have your attention, please? We had been notified that Riley Pierce never came home this Wednesday evening. His parents already called the police and we were asked to suggest you to talk to them too if you have any information about his possible location. His family is restless and also it's a big tragedy for the whole school to lose such a prestigeous student. Thanks for any help you can provide to the searching team. Our teacher's eyes were tearing up but she composed herself and left the room. Everyone was silent for a moment sinking in the information.
