Chapter 3: Worrying Too Much, Part 2

As the men opened the door, Princess barked. Part of their plan. "Oh, shush up, you dang dog!" He waved his hand, but Princess jumped and bit it. He yelled and tucked it in his pocket quickly. "The stupid mutt bit me!" He complained to his compainon.

"Just leave it," The other man replied, picking up old newspaper and putting down fresh. Princess barked and bit the other man, drawing a little blood.

The man whipped around and stared down at the dog. "Stop, you, you ... you .... you mangy dog!"

As Princess distracted the men, Caroline slipped between one of the men's dirty jeans and a cardboard box, and flung herself out of the door. She was free. Of the room, anyway. She was still in a building, though. Next came Loki, slipping past the two men easily. Outside the room was a big, long hallway, filled with a few doors. All of them were just crappy doors, hanging loosely from the wall. They plumeted down the hallway, and as they passed a few rooms, cats meowed. I'm guessing we're their only dogs, and they have cats, too. Loki guessed. When they got to the end of the hallway, it turned into a lobby type room. Doors clicked open and closed, and the counter was too tall to look over. There were no windows, so they couldn't look outside.

"Hey, why are their dogs out here?" A woman strutted across the room from a small elevator. "Oh, hello, Angela? Are these dogs supposed to be here?" The woman bent down and stared at the two pomeranians through her big black glasses.

"I don't believe so. Did Pete and Rob let them out?" A woman came over and bent down, petting the two. "I'll buzz them and ask," The woman's heels clicked as she walked to the counter.

"Hello, Pete? Are Caroline and Loki supposed to be out of their room?" The woman held the phone to her ear.

"Uh-huh," She nodded. "Alright. Bye," The woman raced over and scooped us into her arms.

"How did we let ourselves get trapped again!?" Loki cried, struggling to get out of the woman's grip.

"I don't know! It's my fault! Not my plan!" Caroline sighed as they were brought through a metal door, and into a room that was her worst night mare.
