Leion, Melody, and Nexus lined up on the arena.
"It seems we have an odd number of combatants." Maxwell observed. "Well we can't have that so we need to bring back one of our eliminated combatants so spin that selector wheel." A slot machine looking image appeared in the darkened sky with all the eliminated people from this tournament and started spinning. It slowed down and eventually stopped on Nyx.
"Would miss Nyx please come to the arena ground." Maxwell called. The crowd cheered as Nyx stood next to Nexus.
"Alright In the first court will be Nexus versus Nyx, and next to them will be Leion versus Melody." Nexus and Nyx went right to their battle. Leion looked at Melody she stared at him with a determined look, but he could see a bit of fear in her eyes. They took their court and Leion wished her luck.
"Go Banshee!" Leion started with her again.
"Go Dots!" Melody sent out her blue ditto which instantly transformed into Banshee.
"Dots use Taunt!" Melody tried to sound confident.
"Banshee Taunt it quickly!" For once Banshee wasn't fast enough and she got taunted preventing her from using any non-damaging moves. That left her with Ice Beam.
"Shoot I forgot I gave Dots the Choice Scarf!" Melody exclaimed. " I might loose Dots but that's okay!" She tried not to let her mistake get to her but Leion could see she was red with frustration at her mistake.
"Slow down, think about your moves and opportunities." Leion told her calmly. "Don't do something just because you can."
"Well since I'm stuck with it use Taunt!" Banshee was taunted again but since the previous one was still in effect she was unaffected.
"Ice Beam!" The beam from Banshee hit Dots. Leion remembered Dots also had the Cursed Body ability now. So he had no moves to use.
"Dots use Taunt!" Banshee was again unaffected.
"Alright Struggle!" Banshee flailed at Dots and took recoil damage. Banshee's Taunt wore off after.
After another Taunt both Banshee and Dots were out of moves they could use. Their battle of Struggle lasted but a few rounds then both collapsed.
"Go Diggy!" Melody sent out her Diggersby. Leion sent out his Walrein.
"Use Swords Dance!" The Diggersby started swinging his ears around and raised his attack stat.
"Wallace use Toxic." Sludge flew at Diggy and poisoned him.
"Diggy use Return!" The Diggersby crushed Wallace with a hug and when he released Wallace collapsed.
"Go Aboma!" Leion sent out his behemoth. He touched the key stone on his necklace and his pokemon Mega Evolved. Aboma's Snow Warning ability kicked in causing hail to rain down in the court.
"Use Ice Shard!" The ice struck the pokemon and did severe damage.
"Use Return!" Diggersby ran at Aboma
"Quick Dodge!" Aboma side stepped Diggersby and was safe from the attack. Diggersby was hit by hail and afflicted by poison. It fell to the ground defeated.
"Go Lax!" Melody sent out her Snorlax.
"Swords Dance!" Aboma brought out his icy blades and swung them around raising his stats.
"Earthquake." The Snorlax jumped into the air and when it landed to pillars of earth slammed into Aboma.
"Aboma Wood Hammer!" Aboma Charged Lax and slammed one of his arms onto its head. Aboma was hit with recoil damage and the Snorlax collapsed.
"Go Chatsy!" Melody sent out her Chatot.
"Ice Shard!" The chunk of ice instantly K.O.ed the Chatot.
"Go Exxy!" Melody sent out Exploud.
"Aboma use Wood Hammer!" Leion's Abomasnow slammed the Exploud with one of its arms and took recoil damage.
"Exxy use Focus Blast!" The ball of battle spirit hit Aboma and made the beast collapse.
"Go Avatable!" Leion sent out his iceberg Pokemon.
"Focus Blast!" Exploud sent the ball flying but its aim was off and it missed.
"Avalanche!" Exxy collapsed.
"Go PunPun!" Melody sent out her Lopunny and Mega Evolved it. "High Jump Kick!" The pink eared Pokemon lept into the sky and kicked Avalugg in the jaw as it did Aggron.
"Avalanche!" The attack let loose by Avatable did a massive amount of damage. The damage was so great that when PunPun took the damage from Hail she collapsed ending the battle.
"I...I lost.." Melody sunk to her knees and tears welled up in her eyes.
"Melody.." Leion moved forward to comfort her but before he could actually hug her she leapt up and hugged him. "Are you alright?" She nodded slightly. Leion walked her to the champions booth and sat her down. He took off his Icy blue long coat that Alex had given him to wear for the tournament and wrapped it around Melody. Abomasnow's Hail not only creates hail it also drops the temperature. Melody was shivering. Leion had been in snow and around ice Pokemon his entire life so the cold didn't bother him. He sat down next to her and watched Nexus finish his battle. His Garchomp was quick and agile. Nyx was using a Malamar to combat it but she wasn't having much luck. Alex didn't speak he was too intent on watching Nexus battle. Knowing Alex, Leion guessed he was figuring out a strategy against him, but they only know he has Garchomp and Kingdra. Since Leion's battle was over Maxwell started commentating Nexus and Nyx's battle. Leion didn't pay attention, he was figuring out what he was going to do against Nexus. He was going to lead with Banshee as usual then probably switch to Wallace. He was going to save the two pokemon only he knew in secret till the end. He wanted to dominate Nexus with those two pokemon. Nexus' battle was taking a long time again. Leion figured he likes to toy with his opponents before beating them. He wasn't going to let Nexus do that to him. The combatants have shifted. It was now Mega Absol versus Kingdra.
"How to do you propose I beat him?" Leion asked Alex.
"I'm not sure." Alex responded with a hint of seriousness in his voice. "But even if I did I couldn't share it with you. Melody could know but not you.
"Great.." Leion grumbled and returned his attention to the battle. Nexus was still toying with Nyx. His Kingdra had probably Dragon Danced eight times by now.
"Ugh, this is taking forever" Leion was getting impatient. He was ready and eager for the semi-finals.
"Alright finish this off use Water Fall." Nexus commanded his pokemon. The Kingdra rammed into the Mega Absol and a wave of water appeared above them and crashed down onto them. Absol fell to the ground.
"Finally!" Leion stood up and ran to the field. Nexus was off getting healed quickly.
"What an interesting battle." Maxwell announced. "But now it is time for the semi-finals, where it shall be Leion versus Nexus. Please get to opposite sides of the arena."
Leion did as instructed and waited for Maxwell to initiate the battle. Suddenly the battlefield split in two and slid into the different sides of the field. A new arena replaced the rocky one that held all the other battles.
"We are using a special arena for this battle. This arena has been created to suit both types of pokemon these trainers are using. As you may see the arena is the peak of a snow capped mountain." Maxwell explained. "Now let the semi-finals begin!" The crowd roared in excitement.
