Chapter 7
~Jaelyn's point of view~

For weeks, nothing had happened with Jesse and I. The only thing we did together were brutal boxing workouts.

Today, Jesse wanted to try something a little more advanced for me. Normally, he would stay stationary and let me work on my punches or move a little. He claimed that today would be the day I would actually fight him.

"Faster," Jesse ordered as he moves swiftly around me. Beads of sweat soaked his dark hair and rolled down his godlike face. His boxing gloves were protecting most of his flawless face.

Jesse moved around the ring closer towards me. He tried punching me but I dodged it and jabbed him in the gut. I let my anger out on it.

The anger that we haven't done anything remotely interesting since the day he told me about his family. That he went back into his dark place. That his guard is up again.

"Jesse, I'm surprised that you've brought someone with you. She's not even that good considering for how long you've been helping her."

A bitchy voice stopped Jesse and I from our practice. From me letting my anger out. I pulled at the my gloves and glared at her.

"Not even that good?" I wanted to explode, "Are you jealous that Jesse is helping me and not you?"

"Just stating the obvious that you're not good." She said in a singsongy voice as she starts to walk away.

I slipped out of the ring and go over towards the girl. She had Raven black hair and bright blue eyes. I've checked her in a couple of times at the gym.

"You can't just say that and walk away. Don't be a pussy." I said to her, anger filling my body.

She snickered and turns to face me, her bright eyes looking into my green eyes.
"If only you knew."

"If only I knew what?"

"Jaelyn!" Jesse shouted in a worried tone.

"Oh Jesse, I thought you would have at least told your whore about me as an example."

Example for what? Rage filled my body. Was that an ex? Jealously overpowers me and I punched the girl square in the jaw.

I ignore Jesse's shouts. This girl put her hand over her jaw and smiled. "I do have to say, your punches are powerful. But not as powerful as mine."

She punched me in the same spot I hit her. I stumbled a little from the power of the punch but I quickly recovered.

"Mae stop it!" Jesse shouted at her, color draining from his face.

"Jesse, she started it. I'm finishing it." Mae punched me again, a bloody smile creeping across her face.

I fell to the ground but quickly get back up. I punched her in the gut, knocking the wind out of her.

"You're a decent fighter. But could you take me in a tournament? I doubt it. I win every year." Mae gasped for air as she challenged me.

Jesse came up beside me to stop me from going at her again. He put his arm around me to make sure I don't do anything. "Mae," he warned.

"Jesse this is good for her. Well for me. I'll beat her to a pulp. Rearrange her face maybe."

"I'll fight you. But I hope you know I'll be the one who will win it. You'll be the one who is going to be beaten to a pulp."

Mae sniggered and walked away like nothing happened. Jesse swung me around so that I'm facing him and he examined my face. "What the fuck was that? You have no idea what you've just gotten yourself into."

Jesse cupped my face in his taped hands and his stormy eyes burned into mine. I let Jesse examine my face tentatively. He gingerly traced small circles on my flushed cheeks with his thumbs. "Jae you drive me absolutely crazy. Your big mouth is going to get you in trouble one of these days."

I bit my lip and let out a small sigh. "I know but I can't help it. I get so angry and I can't control it especially since what happened a few weeks ago. You've been distant ever since."

"Be patient Jae-I don't really open up to people. Just understand where I'm coming from. Okay?" Jesse smiled sadly at me. His intriguing eyes now looked like a dark and sad abyss.

I didn't like seeing Jesse so sad. He let me in but he was afraid of something. It was holding him back and making him closed off.

"I understand," I did understand but even though I really wanted to know. Pushing to get answers out of Jesse would push him away even more.

Jesse smiled brokenly and pulled me in for a small hug. "I promise eventually that you'll know everything."

"I won't push answers out of you. I promise."

"I'm trying to open up, trust me."
