Bzzzz.

A message? At five in the morning? Guren groaned, woken from his sleep. He was a light sleeper, accompanied by his late shifts and enough stress for a man his age.

He flopped over, and sleepily grabbed his phone. His lock screen lit up the room as it read 5:24.

Kureto Hiiragi

Come to office at 0600, personal meeting.

What does this fucker want now? Guren closed his eyes again, obviously wanting to go back to sleep.

-----------------------------

A blonde woman stood outside the door with a stern face. "Lieutenant Colonel Ichinose, we've been expecting you, though you are," She looked at the watch on her wrist, "3 minutes, 12 seconds late."

"What does he want?" Guren said, extremely impatient since Kureto decided to give him 30 minutes to maybe get showered (he did), dressed and to his office ― which was past walking distance.

"Come." The woman said simply. Guren and Aoi walked through the door that immediately shut itself after the last foot has been set precisely in the room. Kureto's office was bigger than Guren's, and with large windows that faced the east side. Kureto stood with his back to the two at the door, watching the sun break out in the horizon. On his desk, there were two overlapping binders, each containing lots of plastic film with paper inside.

"I hear that you have arrived, Guren, why don't you come watch the beautiful sunrise with me?"

"You don't wake a man up at 5:30 to watch the sunrise with him. What the hell do you really want." He pulled out the chair in front of Kureto's desk, making it screech as loud as he could, then sat down in with a muffled plump.

Kureto showed little emotion as he took his time turning around to face the other man, who was sitting with his arms crossed over his chest grumpily. He kept a small but creepy smile as he approached his chair. "I suppose you're right. Today I'd like to discuss several things, starting off with your performance with Yuuichiro Hyakuya."

Guren narrowed his eyes. "What about... Yuuichiro Hyakuya?" He asked suspiciously. Guren knows that Kureto knows about Yuu and what had happened so there was no reason to lie about him. But Guren also knows that Kureto won't stop for power ― which Yuu has a lot of.

"He needs more of his memories back, don't you think? We could put on some tapes, or show him documents...," Kureto mused silently.

"And why are you concerned?" Guren stated harshly, his arms crossing across his chest once again. "I didn't know that you were so worried about Yuu."

Kureto shot a harsh glance right back. "No, I'm not worried about Yuuichiro, I'm thinking about our promise. You remember... don't you?"

"Look. I'm not going to accept your goddamn offer-"

"But what about him?"

"...You can't make me choose."

"Oh, but it looks like you're going to have to. Or else, I can bring my men in, and settle this once and for all." Kureto turned around again, facing the windows. Unknown to Guren, he wore a smug smirk.

"You don't have a reason to do this! He's still useful to you!" Guren shouted, losing his temper, banging his fist on his table.

"Aoi." The blonde woman rushed to Guren's side, and held a sword to his neck.
