Prologue

"I'm telling you Phil, it's not that big of a deal!"
"Are you kidding me, we've been officially dating for exactly 3 years today. We're going to the fanciest place I can afford!"
"Please, can we stay here Phil. Watch a movie, play games?"
"What's the matter? Why do you never want to do anything anymore? Why do we always stay at my house Dan?"
"Stop firing questions at me, I'm not in the mood."
"That's the problem, you're never in the mood for anything. Please just talk to me?"
Dan didn't reply. He kept his mouth firmly shut, his teeth clamped and his fists clenched. Phil's voice did sound genuine but Dan couldn't trust him with his secrets. He was told after every day things occurred, that he couldn't tell anyone or worse things would occur. Dan didn't particularly like the forgotten chapters of his fairytale's happy ending, but who is to know if the prince and the damsel in distress do live happily ever after? Dan was the damsel in distress. Phil was the prince who was, unknowingly in this case, saving Dan. Phil was the fairytale's happy ending. Dan was the fairytale's rough begging. The forgotten chapters.
