Chapter 2 (The Human)

Chapter 2 (Esmeralda's pov)

"Esmeralda wake up, come eat if your hungry." Steven said I smiled food...I got up rubbing my eyes. I stumbled lightly down the stairs, I walked over to the kitchen. Steven handed me some waffles and bacon with eggs. I licked my lips he handed me a fork and I started stuffing my face. "You eat?" I heard pearl ask I told her to wait a second she waited patiently. I swallowed the food in my mouth. "I'm human also I'm like Steven part human part gem." I explained than went back to eating. She simply nodded than went about what she was going to do. "Esmeralda today you should explore beach city." Steven said "Okay I'll do that." I said finishing the rest of my food. I cleaned my plate, I waited till Steven was done. I than washed his plate, Steven went to play with his friend Connie. "I'm going to go explore, I'll be back soon." I said to pearl who was cleaning. "Okay." She said I left and walked down the beach with my shoes in my hand. I saw some humans playing with a flying disc. Before I could react it came right at me, it wacked me right in the face. I fell into the sand holding my nose. I heard feet running over, I heard some yell at someone else. "Are you okay? I'm sorry about my friend." I heard that familiar husky voice say. I held my nose, I pulled my hand away good thing I wasn't bleeding. "It's fine, I've been hit before." I said looking up at the person. It was the human! The very attractive human, from yesterday. "It's you again, the girl." He said I realized the human didn't have a shirt on, only shorts. He had boxes on his stomach I didn't know what they were. "What are these?" I asked poking the boxes on his stomach. He chuckled "Those are abs missy." He said "They mean?" I asked confused "That my core is very muscular, strong." He explained I made an o shape with my mouth. He must be very strong to have abs. "Oh okay makes sense." I said he chuckled lightly. "Your different, but let me help you up." He said holding his hand out. I place my hand in his like yesterday, he pulled me to my feet. He picked up my shoes, I took them thankfully. "Thank you.." I said "I never caught your name human?" I added he raised an eyebrow. "Human?" He asked my eyes widened. "I didn't mean to offend you..are you not a human?" I asked tilting my head. "I am. Never had another human call me human." He said with a laugh. "My apologies." I said he nodded. "It's fine, My name is Jackson by the way." He said as we walked, he ran over to some clothes laying in the sand. He shook them out and pulled the shirt over his head. I waited for him, he jogged back over. "Im Esmeralda." I said I held my hand out he shook it. "Nice to meet you." He said "You too." I said "Your new here to beach city?" He asked "Yes I've been here before I long time ago though." I said "Well I'll show you around if you'd like." He said looking down at me. The human named Jackson was taller than me, my head came to his shoulder. "Sure show me beach city, human named Jackson." I said "You have got to stop saying human." Jackson said "Right sorry." I said we walked down the street. "Esmeralda tell me about yourself." He said "Well my favorite color is green." I said "I'm 15, my little cousin is Steven universe. That's it." I said "Wow that was a lot of information." Jackson said with sarcasm. "I tried." I said "Wanna get some ice cream?" He asked I nodded "Sure." I said We came to a ice cream shop. "What would you like?" Jackson asked "I don't know surprise me." I said he nodded with a smile. I sat and waited, Jackson came back with ice cream cones. "Come I know a perfect spot where we can eat them." He said handing me my ice cream, it was some type of ice cream with green specks on them. I followed him on to the beach and to a pier, I sat down he followed. "What is this ice cream?" I asked licking it. "Vanilla ice cream with green sprinkles." He said licking his ice cream. "It is good." I said "I knew you would like it." He said I smiled. It started to become golden hour. I finished my ice cream, I had ice cream on my face. "Jackson?" I said he looked at me as he finished wiping his face with a napkin. He snickered when he saw the mess all over my face. "Here" he said grabbing a napkin. "Can I?" He asked motioning to wiping my face. I nodded, he gently placed his finger under my chin causing my me to look at him. He gently wiped the ice cream from around my mouth, once he was done he gave a satisfied smile. He let his hand drop to his side. He let my chin go, the wind blew causing my hair to blew in my face. I combed it behind my ears "Hey I wanna show you something." Jackson said "Okay!" I said smiling. He lowered himself onto the rocks below the pier, he reached up for me. I jumped down into his arms, he set me down softly. "Come on." He said taking my hand in his, he didn't seem to care that my gem was there. My stomach felt weird, I was nervous all of the sudden. I followed him along the rocks, after a come minutes of walking we came to a little pool? "It's a tide pool." Jackson said

"What are those wiggly things?" I asked getting scared, I naturally hide behind him. He chuckled. "That is coral, it can't hurt you...see." He said he let go of my hand, he bent down and pulled out one of the wiggly things. He held it up and held it out toward me, I shrieked and jumped back scared. "Get it away from me!" I screamed he laughed "Okay okay...look I'm putting it down." He said placing it back in the water. "It's gone, okay." Jackson said "What if it comes back?" I asked looking into the water. "It won't, I promise." He said I nodded slightly. "Jackson? What's a promise?" I asked he looked at me. "A promise is like assuring something or that thing won't happen or the person will do it." He explained "So that wiggly thing won't come back?" I asked "No it won't, now will you stop being so scared?" He said "Okay.." I said "Look it's a turtle." Jackson said pointing. "Oh! Turtle! Jackson could you please get it for me?" I said squealing and clapping. He looked at me and smiled. "Mhm." He hummed. He leaned into the pool and got the turtle, he stood up. He walked over to me and placed it gently in my hand.

"Be careful not to drop him okay?" He said I nodded. "I won't, he's so cute." I squealed petting him gently. "I'm going to name you Phillip!" I said happily. I looked over at Jackson, he was looking at me with a look in his eyes I didn't know of. I felt my cheek heat up, I smiled at him. "Let's put Phillip back okay?" Jackson said holding his hands out. "Okay." I said sadly. "Bye bye Phillip." I said handing him back to Jackson who placed him in the water gently. I've never knew a human could be so gentle. "Jackson, you are the most gentlest human ever." I said holding my hands together. "What do you mean?" He asked confused. "The humans I've met are rough and ruthless, while you are gently and kind." I said "Some humans are like that, can I ask you a question?" He said "Anything." I said nodding. "What are you exactly?" Jackson asked I looked down sighing. "I think I should go, I'll see you later human- I mean Jackson." I said running back to the pier and hopping up effortlessly. I grabbed my shoes and ran back to Steven's. I heard Jackson yelling my name, I just ran faster.
