His heart and blood pumped faster. His breathing became shaky and he clenched his hands under the desk. He was nervous, it was obvious. Many humans had the same reaction. They may have liked what they saw, but my kind gave off a dangerous aura.
Cole Truman was his name, and it seemed so that he was also my partner for this, Home Ec project. Apparently I arrived just in time for it. Marvelous.
The project was seemingly simple and the humans seemed excited. Being paired with the opposite gender (except those certain few), we are going to be charged with taking care of a child ranging from 1 to 5 years. These children would be coming from the local adoption center.
This human teacher obviously does not have her head on straight. Personally, I cannot take care of a human child. Vampires don't do that. Spending time with a human, a boy, is not on my to do list. Vampires don't do that either.
Forced to walk a mile down the road to the adoption center, the heart rates picked up around me. The excitement almost choking me. My human partner, I mean Cole, tried to make small talk.
It was still dark as my soul outside, the wind picking up even more. What the human teacher should have done was make us take the bus. The weather, of course, didn't affect me. The humans wouldn't last long. They were already starting to shiver, and my human part- I mean Cole, his teeth started to chatter.
My eyes spun as I rolled my eyes. The teacher rubbed her hands up her arms as goosebumps formed; more students started to chatter their teeth. So when the teacher called over her shoulder that we only had about three minutes left, everyone except me of course, sighed in relief.
I felt slightly nervous as we approached the small building that looked like it had been around since the 1800s. Quickly as it came, I dismissed the feeling with a scowl. Human children shouldn't scare me; I mean, people fear me! I've been through worse anyway, so taking care of a mere being should be nothing.
Right?
